    Default Oops, Richard is dead!

In my crusades campaign on v hard I was having a hard time holding on to my cities and running out of money. My big plan was to assemble an army of veterans and march to Cairo, take the capital, strike a blow and get a heap of cash. I brushed aside 2 armies on the way, minimal losses until finally being stopped at the gates of the city by 4 full stacks!

Oh pants! That was the longest battle I think I've ever had. Fought them all at the same time (game is much smoother with the dual core upgrade), broke two armies. The final two armies surrounded me, forcing me to retreat to the nearest hill. My men literally fought to the last 3 foot knights! Poor old Richard had a bad day but at least it broke the back of Egypt...

When i played as Egypt Richard the Lionheart tried exactly what you just said but i had a fort blocking the way to cairo. This fort was garrisoned by Salahadin.

It was a Titanic battle with Salahadin personally slaying the Lionheart in the center of the fort. (The character salahadin literally killed Richard not the salahadins bodyguard)

Are you playing as Jerusalem to get Richard the Lionheart? I was planning on taking a break from my Americas campaign and trying out the Crusades but I can't decide on which Crusader State to play as.

I played a bit as Antioch and received King Philip of France instead of Richard Lionheart. Then I used "toggle_fow" and saw that Jerusalem had received Richard.

Lol Playing as Ireland in the Brittania campaign, Edward came home from his Crusade a few turns ago, sieged a Wallish castle, won and got pawned by two Wallish Armies, before I could meet him in battle (my armies were so close )

The Baron's Alliance is the Milanese for the Brittania campaign, btw, damn backstabbers (and Wales joined with them, when they backstabbed me...)

I wasnt Lionheart, i was saladin.
Maybe richard thought he was more superior then saladin and thought he couldtake on the infidel easily. How wrong he was.

I love when the generals duke it out like that. In my Apache campaign my faction heir kills the French leader, and then my leader gets overrun by the dead Frenchie's bodyguard. Epic.

Yes you have to play as Kingdom of Jerusalem to get Richard. He died hard!
