Re. Historical battles...please!

Hi B.C. team,

I know that for myself, I love historical battles.

Will any be included in this release? If not perhaps future releases?

Thanks again for your wonderful mod, WOW is all I can say, WOW!

Hi Hellas,

Historical battles won't be in BC 1.0 and I cannot say if we will ever include them unless we get a helping hand. The fact is that scripting historical battles is quite a complicated affair and very very time consuming. I frankly don't have any idea how to do it myself and if anyone here has any knowledge about it please do tell us.

That being said, I do understand that historical battles, like Manzikert, Hattin or Didgori would be quite interesting indeed. Especially given the fact that we have the units that can make it a reality.

Or Myriokephalon, sadly very forgotten battle. For byzantine battles if you need instructions ask me freely. I recently bought two excellent books.

I'm not sure once the mod is released some community members can spend time to work on these. I presume historical battles are held in a single text file and can be transferred easily enough.

Some folks made a few historical battles for EB as mini-mods. I don't why anyone playing BC can't do the same.(Providing they can map the battle correctly, have enough research, AND script the AI to behave as the reality suggests.)

I like any idea that doesn't involve me doing work.

Siege of Hromkla... It would be an interesting historical battle, but you'd have to be creative on what units would be present (Mamluks assaulting the Armenian fortress).

so will you guys have such early units who can make this a realty?

it doesnt have to be that accurate, does it?
I mean the year is no problem I think, that can be changed just for the historical battle... but there is no need to make units for the battles. The ones they have is fine as it is

I don't know about Manzikert I mean after seeing Strelac's Byzantines I think including before he releases them would be pretty mediocre. That and the Slejuks of Rum aren't exactly hosting any star units of their own in 1.0. I think historical battles that involve factions that have complete unit-lists would be more welcome.(Atleast to me.)
