    Default Two general questions

I just have two questions about the changes introduced by RTR:

    1) When does the Roman civil war occur? (assuming it does) Is it the historical date, or is it random?

    2) Have cavalry been weakened? In RTW vanilla a cavalry charge seemed to be far more effective than in RTR. Of course, I may be mistaken, but I'm fairly sure they're not as good as they were.

    Thanks.

I dont think the Rome civl war happens.

and yeah, calvary has been weakened, to make it more realistic i suppose. I usualy just hire my calvary when i need from gaul.

For me, this has actually enhanced cavalry usage. I never even thought about whether or not they were in a good formation when I charged them at a unit. Now, I use shift to set it up and it's just brutal to watch compared to how I did it before. charging a full unit of Kataphracts into the rear of a unit of spearmen, and putting the camera right in front of the spearmen, is on par with (or better than) the visceral satisfaction one gets from using the chainsaw bayonet on Gears of War.

(Something kinda embarrassing: I remembered using the shift key on the first Medieval Total War, and kept wondering if you could give specific instructions like that on RTW. I've been playing this game for more than a year, and I literally did not know that you could give soldiers a specific path on RTW before I read the FAQ for this version...which was like...uh...a month...ago...Arrrghghgh! )

Roman civil war betwen what factions? There is only one roman faction in vanilla RTRPE

Yes. There was a whole debate about this when unit stats were adjusted in RTRPE. There is a pinnned thread right above about the changes done to unit stats and the second post contains a guide on how to use the cavalry effective.

I saw it mentioned somehwere that there was still a civil war, and if you choose to play a battle there are two seperate factions for the Romans - the regular one in RTR and a roman faction represented by a boar emblem - the symbol of the Gallic legions.

No, not in vanilla RTRPE. I think mnm has a roman rebels factions using the bi principle, but in RTRPE you only have one faction.

I think you are refering to custom battle. There is a second roman faction. This is done to let players fight the romans vs romans fights. However in campaign there is no roman civil war and only one roman faction, as florin80 already said.

By first Roman Civil War, it's meant the limited one between Sulla and the followers of Marius that preceded the big one between Ceasar & Pompey, etc.?

Either way, I didn't think the mod could be realistically coded to reflect the situation?
    ...............

The readme of MNM v1.9 says that since it's BI-compatible, it has the general's loyalty values for the Romans (presumably with rebel faction Romans feature). Doesn't say if other factions have it too.
