Battle "CTD"

Need some help, While running MTW2 with in last week or so everytime while in battle "mainly in siege" when the general dies or I knock wall down, ill ctd. I think when I ctd its at the same time that you get a close up of either general going down or wall falling. I bought Kingdoms to and have same problem. could this be problem with that 1.2 patch, I have heard bad things about it. Downloaded it from gamespot.

It might be your PC.

When a game is rendering the game from afar it uses (if its a good game) low detail modles to save grapics cards from rendering 100 or so extra polys (triangles that build everything you see) per unit. When you get closer it then renders the polys to everything looks nice and sexy, smooth and sharp.

A sudden Telaport warp from low rendering to high rendering might overload your PC. A CPU will chug it out a 0-1 FPS if it has to, and a Grapics card will some times break though a huge strain, most often its the RAM - if the ram becomes Maxed and the game can no longer think. It crashes, or windows kills it because It needs to think and conflicts with the game.

To test this theory out lower all your settings and unit size and see if this crash presists.

It is possible that even if you never had this problem before the 1.2 added more detail or changed rendering code and now demands more preformance from the game, and only now due to this change your PC is faultering.

you have the event messages crash- my room mate and i have the same issue- whenever an event window is about to pop up, ie.. general killed or walls taken, etc, the game will CTD. it happens to us about 60 % of the time. im looking for a way to turn battle messages off, but i havent had a response from anyone.

With Kingdoms I CTD at the start of every battle.

Oriflame it happens to me at the load screen for battles as well...about 50% of the time with kingdoms
