Yes, I never hit the pause button
Only at the beginning of the fight to set everything up
Only at the end to capture all the routers
No, I regularly hit the pause button

i've never paused, i occasionaly speed it up if something is taking too long but i never pause. it takes a bit of the fun away and if you don't pause you actually have the chance of losing some troops.
I never pause, mostly because never remember. 70% of the battle is deployment though so as long as you have that right then the rest is easy.
Regularly use the pause button. Especially in vanilla where battles are roughly the speed of light.
Under the patronage of Rhah and brother of eventhorizen.
Unless I am following "house Rules" I pause a lot. Sometimes My house rules for the campaign require that I not pause...
depends on what i'm commanding..
when i have horse archers, then yes, i micro manage every unit cause the ai is a little too slow in responding to an enemy cavalry formation attacking my HA
otherwise i rarely pause .. i still pause sometimes, cause my computer is pretty old and doesn't like huge battles too much
(i'll never forget a huge battle with the mogolians - i was playing the turks - 2 full stacks against 3 of them; by the time i manage to select a unit and focus on it, half of them were dead)
I only pause before lines engage so I can tell them to attack certian units without breaking the line, otherwise I never pause unless I need to go away from the cpu for some reason

I pause.
Large Battles were affairs that took hours/days, not 15 minutes, so I see no issue.
I always pause, but you just inspired me to try not to...that would be different and interesting, to see if I still win.
I only pause to set up at the start if the AI is playing defensively.
I have never paused a single battle, that takes all the challenge from it.

You seek me there
You seek me every where

I pause mostly during sieges where faulty pathfinding can really ruin your game.
I pause occasionally, like to order a large attack from a bunch of units to be carried out all at once. My typical danish strategy for instance, is to have 4 norse archers in front, with 10 heavy inf (dismounted knights, axemen, norse swords) behind them, and when the enemy gets close I order all my men to charge individual targets all at once. Usually causes a very fast rout.
There's a pause button?
i pause only for epic battles where its 1:1 or worse odds for me.
for battles ive got in the bag like superior numbers and/or units ill play it by ear without pause.
but for big battles i usually formulate a plan during deployment and stick to it. i pause to make units follow that plan.
I RARELY pause, really only when the defenders sally and I pause to drop all my seige equipment. After that I don't ever pause the battle.
I personally think the game is a lot more engaging and fun in real time. Plus, it makes it harder since the AI isn't a very smart general. But it helps to use DarthMod, or at least his battle files, since the death rates are slower.
I use the pause button alot because back in the day one guy alone can't command an army. especially if his troops are miles away and he has changed his strategy. But i do try to limit the amount of pauses i do. i usually pause up to 3-7 times depending on the size and layout of the battle![]()
