URGENT HELP! (REPS) Can't install M2TW!

Hi, so Kingdoms is out tomorrow!

But, I cannot seem to install M2TW (I had to delete it because I was running a mod, and would imagine that Kingdoms would require a fresh install) any more.

I get this error:

It used to install fine. When I install, I delete all previous folders of the game, and remove it from Control Panel, but do not remove it from registry. Although given the error, I do not think it has much to do with problems in the registry. I think it may be my DVD drive - and thankfully I have a spare, USB one if that really is the problem.

I noticed that when it is installing, it does not seem to be so with the same ... er ... ferocity that it did before. Before a lot of of system resources went into it, my PC lagged and made loud noises. Now, when I tried to install it, nothing. Almost as if nothing is happening. The installation process does not seem to be using much memory or CPU time either; the system idle process is taking up 95% of CPU time, and the installation process (whatever it's called, I am not sure) is not even in the top ten for memory usage. Could this be part of the problem?

As said in the title, reputation points are available to those that help, as well as me turning a blind eye to those that flame and spam. Well, I will not give you the later, but I will definitely give you the former!

Try updating the drivers on your DVD-rom before you do anything to drastic. Ussually simple things like that people overlook. So i hope it helps!

Hmm...strange indeed. I would delete absolutely everything to do with M2TW, including clicking start/search/medieval 2 total war. This probably won't help, but it's worth a try, right? It could also be a problem with your disc itself, but unlikely. Updating your drivers might also help, but if it ran before it should do so now as well.

Also you could try scanning your comp for viruses or errors, which could help.

Problem fixed, I gave the CD a good clean and it installed fine! Thanks for the help everyone.

For future reference, a CRC error indicates a faulty disc (or drive).
