Can I assassinate my own generals?

I'm wondering if it is possible to assassinate my own generals... As some of them got the "Rebel!-You're not my king" trait and are making some of my cities riot (refusing to move out of them) and my assassins can't assassinate them, I would appreciate if someone can told me how to put them down.

I am preeeety sure that until your general actually declares himself a rouge andswitches from your faction to the rebels or is bribed by another faction you can't harm him, there might be a mod to fix this though check it out!

I think you can... since when I click my generals they do on the list of assassin... Never try it though.

No, you can not.

You could in MTW1 though, I often killed disloyal generals.

Yeah i hate the fact that i cannot Assassinate my own bloody generals... like whats up with that O.o
In RTW i could choose my future king/leader and not have to put up with some Special needs general who gets bullied.

No, you cannot. However, I think there is a way to kill your own spies when they are located in any enemy settlement. But you can't kill your own generals.

Not as far as I'm aware. However, if you have a general with wavering loyalties, then before he goes bonkers send him into a lone ship and, as the TW website suggests, see if you can't find some pirates to play with...

Yep, strange as it may sound, that's been possible since RTW. Seen some mods that tried to make it work for others too but that didn't work.

Bit of a shame indeed, the spy shows it's just a matter of hardcode, and a choice made by CA.

But why would they choose to do this? They seem to model the politics in all the total war games after machiavelli's works. And I know machiavelli lauded the assasination of generals.

Would be nice to assasinate unloyal generals, but alas, you can't. I take the unloyal bastards and send them out alone to get killed or turn rebel, then I'll kill them.
