Default I need to change my Faction Heir...

My top king's adopted son is now the next king. Can I change it so that the king's brother, not the king's adopted son, becomes the faction heir?
It was possible in RTW, but I cant find the button on the character sheet.
Playing as Sicily. 13 years down. King Roger has died.

nope, that feature was taken out, it was usually the son that took the crown anyway, not sure about adoptive ones though.

The adopted son is taking the faction heir, but I would rather the heir be a blood relative of the original king. I am traditional.
And, the adopted son isnt a very good king. Id rather it fall on Ario the Chivalrious.
I just dont plain like adopted people in the family.

Royalty is royalty man, you can't change those kind of blood lines (figuritivly speaking since the hier apparent is adopted of course)

-clears throat- adopted kings can be very good sometimes, don't agree to one next time if he dosn't look good. oh and by the way, I am adopted.

Sorry, KingBane, no offense, but I like things my way. Its a fantasy world, and I like things to be exactly to my specification.
Is there a way or no?
Like, hacking or something to add the feature to a current campaign or console commands?

    No way to do it.

Also homefry just wait for the adoption message to come up. Youll get one eventually.

How do you adopt a son?

If you have more territories than generals, it will either grant "Man of the Hour" to Captains or ask you to adopt Generals.
This adoption is very weird. Sometimes, the son is older than the father, and the son is usually within 10 years of his father.
    VERY weird.

One oft looked over requirement for being king is being alive. Keeping this in mind, if your current faction heir were to be compelled to hop on a single boat and take on a very large enemy fleet it is likely that he would no longer satisfy the aforementioned requirement.

just send him off to die. that's what most people do to get rid of generals they don't want.

    But hes a decent general.
Its just that I want the kingship to be in the "blood"

I understand, I tried to do the same but the king's bloodline was seperated from heirdom by 13 generals by the time the emperor died and an adopted son became heir...

    No way around it, sadly.

    in Rome: Total War,
you can change the faction heir.
The old faction heir gets a "Dishonored" trait and gets like -Influence and -Command because he wasnt "fit" enough to be faction heir.

Why did they change that feature? its very useful!

My current faction leader became the leader before his son was at the age to be a general. As a result, the faction leader's uncle is now the heir.

But now that the faction leader's son is at the right age, the uncle is still the heir.

If the uncle dies in a heroic fight, does the faction leader's son become the heir?

i always used to get my adopted family members (or non royal blood) involved in 'accidents' but while playing as England i had an guy adopted into my family called Perkin somthing. So i sent him charging straight into some rebel armoured swordsman and other stuff and to my supprise he killed the rebel captain and caused the army to rout and run them down 0.0 picks up some nice traits over the next few years and considering ive also got 3 good assassins constantlly doing there job he gets quite a pit of authority and dread when he actually became king, he actually turned out to be quite a good king.....to bad he died on the first charge against the french when he had 24 bodyguards left >.< . maybe a bit of irony in there. oh but urm yeh there you go somtimes it is good to get some new blood in.
