    Default faction capitals

i recently took rome on my seleucid campaign ,while rebuilding my forces in rome i decided to attack capua and take some settlements from scipii , but once i took there capital i found out tht i had destroyed the faction somehow , and had a an amry on its way to the island with the 3 settlements on to take the settlements therebut i didnt relise i would take them out so easily . but what i find is strange is tht when i took brutii's capital , they were still in the game , its really got me confused , is this some sort of bug/glitch in the game?

It could be that you killed off all their family members when capturing the city which resulting in the extermination of that faction no matter how many provinces that faction owned.

That would be difficult, considering you only have around a 5% chance of taking out any faction leaders most of the time.

Mathematically you'd have to expend 20 assassins just for the faction leader, and a few others on the faction heir.

At least you HAVE a chance, Medieval assassins only have 1% procent chance in killing a high ranking general.

You either killed a Scipii family members, or Capua was their last settlement. The first is more likely than the second. The Brutii weren't defeated when you took their capital, because they still have towns and family members.

What I like to do to destroy the enemy family line:

I prepare lots of assassins and lots of money in my treasury, and have lots of spies following all of the enemy generals. I keep track of which generals have low security and which ones have low loyalty - then, all at once, I assassinate all of the low security ones, bribe the low loyalty ones, and move in and wipe out the rest (usually faction leader and heir) with armies.
