    Default Steal those Siege Engines!

Many is the time that I have sallied forth from my City/Fortress to attack the enemy whilst they are carrying ladders and rams and siege towers and I have always bemoaned the fact that we cannot grab the enemy's siege equipment and bring it into the city thus denying him its use.

To me it makes no sense that the sallying force cannot use its hands to steal the enemy's equipment having killed off the soldiers using it.

Also would it not be possible to allow the sallying army the ability to set fire to the enemy's siege towers.

I would also like to see a bit more destruction to the enemy when it is pushing the siege tower and it comes crashing down - troops pushing it or standing nearby are totally undisturbed by its collapse - this is not true of Castle/City walls falling down on troops behind them, so why does a falling siege tower hurt no one.

What do you think? Would you like to be able to steal the enemy's equipment? Its what would have really happened.

As far as I know it's only troops on the walls themselves that are killed when they start to collapse. I've never had soldiers behind the wall be killed by falling debris. In R:TW I believe soldiers pushing the towers were killed by falling debris, but it wasn't a very large area.

It has happened to me in RTW actually, but it didn't affect too many of my troops.

Well I don't belive falling debris in M2TW kills like it did in RTW after patch 1.3, but thats stone walls or better. The seige towers never kill when falling apart unless men are in them, and falling debris from walls destroy them, I used to keep onagars in RTW as city defense and shoot at my own walls to destroy them, can't do that now in M2TW.

I don't like the idea of stealing seige equipment because every time you sally the AI always pulls back a bit and will never advance unless being shot at, by adding that it's just another way to defeat the AI with little effort.

It would also be great if when we beat an army on the battlefield, we take their artillary equipment.

Also, we should have the option of splitting our units to smaller units.

Yeah I agree that would be sweet and realistic especialy cannon, or get a discount for raising troops having captured arms.

    Whatchu talkin' about Willis?

You have to - alt + attack - to be able to take control of the ram.

In my Moors campaign I have used my Hashashim[sp?] to take rams several times. Most recently in a crusade that was called on my citadel.

I'd have one unit attack and cause them to stop and fight and the other one would sneak in and take the ram and bring it behind the walls. Once I had the ram I'd have my peasants take the ram behind another wall and then destroy it. I captured 3 rams before they sent in their towers/ladders/final ram to capture the first and second wall.
