No "new" units. They have armoured serjeants now. Nothing new for Scotland either, but the peasant archers got a new unit card.

New units are for Ireland, Wales and Norway. Norway's unit selection is the same in Brittania and Teutonic campaigns (based on custom battle roster).

It sucks that we Aussies have to wait more than a week for a game that is developed in our own country

Just a question to Caliban. What where the thoughts behind this special unit? I mean, the obvious choice for a norwegian special unit would be"Skutilsveinr", but it looks like CA once again skipped the less important research part.

    Oh well...

@Norge...excellent thanks for the screenshot. Those 3 provinces and France and Norway...are they slave territories or just empty?

I'm glad that CA changed the map close to the end of production and added the extra provinces.

About skipping "less important research part"....this is very unfair....I have been researching Scottish history with an emphasis on The Highlands and the Islands, and North East Scotland for more than 10 years....and NEVER once seen a reference to the "Skutilsveinr". What are they and what period are they from, more importantly, what period is this name used in?

You could be possibly opening up an area of Norse research I've never read

other names try hirdmenn or hird, iirc Skutilsveinr were royalguards of the norwegian king in the period 900 to 1300

Thats very odd with Gotland footmen because it was a Swedish province.

My thoughts exactly. Gotland is a beatiful isle off coast of Sweden. May be they imply that Norwegans and Swedes are allied in Kalmar Union and thus the Norwegian units being from Gotland?

No, it was a Danish province.
Other than that, I also find it CA's choice very odd.

Like T-Wester already said, Skutilsveinr can be considered to be the elite part of the hird. I'm assuming you atleast heard the word "hird" during your studies?

Yes, I noticed this too. England seems to be way beyond the pale.
