Lances useless?

If there's one thing I love it's a good chest rape with a lance. It seems though that all my elite heavy cavalry units (Gothic knights, imperial knights etc) just pull out their damn sword instead.

Are there specific conditions required for a good joust?

I use stainless steel mod if that would change anything =o.

What version? most of the time the lance charge works unless theres like a bad angle between the knights and the target.

make sure you have a good charge distance otherwise it won't work quite as well. Also you need to ensure that they're all in good position in order to charge properly.

Practice is your only friend in these situations.

Yeah, you guys were right, Using a custom battle where the angles were right and I set it up properly I saw some awesome charge action. I guess you just need a bit more skill in this one

I've had this happen to me on several occasions, mostly in RTW though, the general's bodyguard didn't lower their spears for the charge

With M2TW it could be that they aren't a good distance away, i.e. too close. Or that they are in an awkward formation or still setting up when you issue the charge.

The worst of these is when you tell them to charge and one or two of them are up ahead of the formation, and they hit their mark only to have the rest of the charging formation draw swords and prepare for melee combat! It really sucks and ruins your awsome plans to eradicate the enemy in a single charge..
