    I have been working on a Retroft Mod for Kingdoms to add some Kingdoms features and improvements to M2TW. The mod is nearing completion and is undergoing final testing before release. If all goes well, the Retrofit Mod will be publicly available in the next day or so.

    DETAILS:

    REQUIRES MEDIEVAL II TOTAL WAR: KINGDOMS
    ========================================

    1.0 OVERVIEW
    ============

    The Retrofit Mod retrofits various Medieval II Total War (M2TW): Kingdoms features, improvements and bug fixes to vanilla M2TW. This mod can be used as it is, or as a base to create additional M2TW: Kingdoms mods.

    The major features of the Retrofit Mod are:
    - Hotseat Campaigns.
    - AI Support Armies.
    - Boiling Oil.
    - 4 Additional custom battle maps (Backwoods, Borderlands, Forts, Trenches).
    - Unit rebalancing.
    - AI Unit Recruitment tweaks.
    - Campaign AI Tweaks.
    - Miscellaneous bug fixes and improvements.
    - Installer: The mod is packaged with an easy to use installer for computers with a valid installation of M2TW: Kingdoms.

    Sorry, the Retrofit Mod does not include stone forts and castle moats. The Retrofit Mod will only include common Kingdoms features and elements that exist in all 4 Kingdoms maps. Additional content specific to certain Kingdoms maps is not included. The overview lists the major features included in the Retrofit Mod.

    @Nebuchadnezzar:

    The Retrofit Mod will only currently work for Kingdoms. I have no plans at present to release a cut down version for Vanilla M2TW due to time constraints. I believe other modders have and will continue to release balance and tweak mods for Vanilla M2TW.

    Not really! With all due respect to the modders most include gameplay changes to suit personal preferences.
    I'm really only wanting to add fixes, unit balancing and campaign AI improvements to a minor mod keeping as much of vanilla as possible.

    Would there be any problems if I mod this mod to work on M2TW without a Kingdoms install. I would really like to be able to add some new improvements and fixes to the GC
    If so without having to scan all the unit files please which export_descr_unit.txt should be used in vanilla M2TW GC 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 so as to add the new improved balancing?

    TBH I don't have a problem with not being able to use this mod without Kingdoms - people who pay for the add-on deserve to be able to make use of the new features first.

    Well this is totally awesome! Pardon the innuendo but I think you've just single handedly relieved a lot of people who've been skeptical over purchasing Kingdoms because of the lack of anything done to the grand campaign...

    Looking forward to seeing this mod develop with great interest. Speaking of which, I know you haven't done this (yet), but is it actually possible through modding to include specifics like stone forts and moats from the individual Kingdoms mods to this port?

    By the way, shouldn't you have a CA label beside your name?

    One other thing - will this Retrofit mod also include the cool aspects of your Custom Campaign Mod? For example, the unique campaign map models for the faction leader and faction heir? To me these are indispensible.

    If not, is there an easy(ish) way to port this from one to the other? I.e. which files achieve this?

    I'd like to ask Unspoken Knight to keep this mod as close to vanilla as possible. I don't play mods at all because they tend to add all sorts of "cool things" that distract from the vanilla gameplay. Please don't give in to pressures to make this mod anything more than what it already is: A great retrofit mod to make the Grand Campaign play like the Expansion campaigns.

    I will not be including stone forts and moats in this version of the Retrofit Mod.

    The Retrofit Mod also does not include any Custom Campaign features. I may release a Custom Campain Mod 1.03 in the future which includes the Retrofit Mod.

    I currently do not have a CA label since I am here in my capacity as a modder.

    Sorry, I should have made myself clearer. My question was really asking whether it is actually possible for stone forts and moats (and the other specific campaign features for that matter) to be modded into a ported Grand Campaign?

    Many thanks for your dedication towards the comunity Unspoken Knight.

    I was wondering if, since this would be version "1.0", would it be possible to implement in later versions of this mod any kind of AI improvements that would also be implemented in later Kingdom's patches such as an hypothetical patch 1.4 . :hmmm:

    If Unspoken Knight could announce that in a future version of his mod stone forts and moats are going to be included in gc, I am eventually inclined to buy the Kingdoms in advance.

    So does it make sense to assume that some of you weren't happy with the management's decision to not include kingdoms features into the original game?
