This is my favourite faction, unit etc. Everyone post yours too.

Faction: Greek Cities

Units:

1. Athenaoi Hoplite - Greek Cities

2. Hoplitoi (Heavy) - Illyria

3. Liby-Pheo Hoplite - Carthage ( These guys mean business. I have a heroic victory in the campaign pictures thread and they inflicted most of the kills. They may be not that strong but 1 unit can hold a narrow street against a whole spanish horde for up to 25 minutes. Two can actually defeat the enemy. This is against Scutarii mostly and tribesmen.

Settlement: Seems wierd to have a favourite settlement but i like Rhegium for a wierd reason.

Feature: On MNM (Metro Naval Mod) i like the earth wall forts .

Least Favourite Unit: Any Phalanx unit.

Faction: Greek Cities

Units:

1. Hoplite Elite - Greek Cities

2. Bastarne - Thrace

3. Hapistapies (I dunno how to spell) - Selucid Kingdom.

Settlement: SPARTAAA!!!!

Feature: The movable Hoplite Phalanx with short spears.

Least Favourite Unit: Any Romans especially Principies since they're over powered infact almost all roman units are over powered -.-

Settlement: Carthage (The City of Dreams, as written in one wonderful AAR)

Feature: AOR

Least favourite unit: Any kind of hypaspistai (I am still playing RTRPE 1.8 so I hate their 2hp)

Faction: Rome/Kingdom of Macedon (can't decide)

Units:

1. Hypastpistai (spears) Macedon

2. Hetairoi Macedon

3.Triarii

Settlement: ROMA

Feature: Strong Phalanxes/ Marians.

Least Favorite Unit: All Gallic and Germanic units (Barbarian scum )

Units:

Hastati - fast as hell and I like them because they're not uber, they will die if not well looked after
Italian Cavalry - Look good and.. dunno, something about em.
Iberian Mercenaries.

Cities: Utica, Carthago Nova, Capua, Syracuse and Bononia.

Least favourite unit: Basic greek hoplite. Grr.

Feature: You can issue orders to your forces DURING combat and make tactical decisions instead of constant micro-managing.

Favourite settlement:

Pella, on your invasion of Makedonia in the early
campaign (to halt their rampaging) Pella is the largest and strategically the keystone city on your way down to Aetolia and the Peloponnese

Faction: The Seleucid Empire

Favourite Units: (1) Galatian swordsmen, scare the hell out of anyone

(2) Cretan archers, reach out and touch someone!

(3) Elephantes Sirias or Merc' Asian Elephants, love Elephant units in game, can be utterly decisive or a total liability and always hugely expensive. probably the most realistic game unit?

Least favourite Unit: Any Hypaspist, greatly over represented in the game, very frustrating to face stacks with loads of hypaspists in.

Favourite settlement: Athens, have had an income of over 5000 Denarii per turn coming to Athens. Thats enough to pay for a couple of full stack armies.

Favourite game feature: Using spies to spread plague and so wage biological warfare

Least favourite game feature: MACEDON! The black death has 'ruined' 90% at least of my campaigns, ive seen them knock out Greek cities, Illyria and Thrace within 10 years before. By the time you get your faction sorted out the map is already black. I tweak the stats to weaken them but they're very annoying

Favourite Battle site: The Black sea coast near the Pontic capital. Perfectly flat and featureless, beautiful ground for phalanx deployment

Faction: Macedon

Units:
1: War & Cataphract Elephants

3. Hipaspistai (sp?), especially the sword ones.

Crap unit: basicly all barbaric units (especially these warbands)

City: Byzantium, rich as hell and will be Constantinople one day

I am fond of Bactria. They start in the middle of nowhere with Parthia preparing to go for their throat.

Bactrian Pezoi are particularly beautiful with their red cloak, muscled cuirass and Boeotian helmet.

Bactrian Sword Hypaspists also look lovely with their shiny cuirass and greaves and large hoplon.

I also really liked the Indian archers - but it wasn't practical to try to maintain large numbers of them in my armies fighting the Selucids.

I found my Bactrian campaign (in RTRPE 1.5) to be strangely restful. After defeating the rabid Parthians, I expanded south-west into the heart of the Selucid hordes.

An unpretentious standard army based around Pezoi with plenty of skirmishers and archers and using family members for cavalry can make steady progress against the Selucids.

A constant stream of Pezoi reinforcements from the homelands, combined with skirmishers and archers from recent conquests kept the main armies up to strength, and eventually a small leavening of Hypaspists to hold off their Selucid opposite numbers while other troops ganged up to wipe them out (I found that Selucid Hypaspists always rushed at my flanks well ahead of their phalanx).

I like Bactria and Germans, but i would say Macedon is my favourite, i had my best RTR campaign with them
