Every time I update my game and I personally command a battle it always CTD's at the very start, it also does this with the historical battles - but it works just fine with the 1.1 and 1.0 - post here if you have the same problem

Have you unpacked the game?

Then im guessing you haven't read the unpacker readme. If you had you would have noticed this:

- NOTE: Due to a timestamp check, the following unpacked files will
cause the game to crash and must be deleted before the game is
launched:

data\descr_geography_new.txt
data\descr_geography_new.db

I've lost count of the number of people complaining about CTDs after unpacking who haven't read the readme. Readme's are there for a reason.
