Default PS3 and LCD Monitor Help

    Hello,

I have a BenQ FP93G LCD monitor and I would like to buy a PS3 and hook it up to it. The monitor is not HDCP compliant, but I was thinking about purchasing the HDFury adapter.

How can I find out if my monitor will support 1080p, 1080i, 720p, 720i etc? My monitor's max resolution is 1280 x 1024, but can that be overriden by a PS3? Will HDFury give me 1080p?

Is there anything I am missing that might not work?

    Thanks for your help.

Well your monitor can receive all of those standards, but it won't be able to display them in there entirety.

Theoretically your monitor should be able fully display 720p since your monitor goes up to 1280 x 1024, but it won’t be able to handle 1080p (1900 x1200) so no, if your buying to get 1080p don't bother.

That’s not a big loss since I’m guessing your using a 19” display anyway in which case you wouldn’t be really be able to see the benefits of 1080p anyway (as appose to 720p).

BTW $200 is a lot of money for one little adaptor, you might be better of finding a HDMI 22-24” ready monitor instead.

Ah okay, and yes it is a 19". So, if my resolution is set for 720p will the image appear stretched or distorted seeing as my aspect ratio is 5:4?

Actually, directcanada.com has it on for $120.
