You can't really expect someone to answer in under 4 minutes. Give people longer than that.

To let units use shield wall, you must run RTW through the BI EXE. So make a copy of the RTW shortcut on the desktop, and right-click on the new one, and select properties.

    Now change:

    Code:
    "C:\Program Files\The Creative Assembly\Rome - Total War\RomeTW.exe"
    to
    Code:
    "C:\Program Files\The Creative Assembly\Rome - Total War\RomeTW-BI.exe"
    for gold edition, or

    Code:
    "C:\Program Files\Activision\Rome - Total War\RomeTW.exe"
    to
    Code:
    "C:\Program Files\Activision\Rome - Total War\RomeTW-BI.exe"
    for regular.

Now in EDU.txt, after making a backup, add shield_wall onto the formation line of any unit you want to have it. Note that phalanx and shield-wall cannot be used together.
RIP Calvin, you won't be forgotten.

add -mod to the end of the command line that runs RTW, after the close quote.

Copy battlepage_3.tga from BI/data/UI/roman/interface, and paste in data/ui/roman/interface.

If a ui folder doesn't exist, create one.

Hi, I saw this old post because not many people talk about the Shield Wall for RTW... I've followed the instructions above

"Now in EDU.txt" - when I added the shield_wall my game wouldn't load... is there something not noob obvious I am missing? I realise this stands for ExportDiscriptionUnit.txt when this was the intuitive process but still trying to see maybe there is some other special text I missed.
