ok seriously what are those black hats called? they are gorgeous
Well I think it's just helmet....
Helmet – made of leather and brass. The skull and crossbones or ‘death’s head’ was the regimental crest. (Yes, pirates have also used this symbol, but they never had a monopoly on it!) The red flowing crest is dyed horsehair. The helmet offered some protection from sword cuts, and also served to identify the dragoon as belonging to the 17th.....etcetc

KLA you've got quite a bit of Habsburg soldiers there, are you from some of the former Habsburg states?
My first topic ever. Let's see if it gets any attention
A cool thing about uniforms would be some sort of (limited) ability to customise colours and different styles and features. Different units in the 18-19th centuries' armies tended to have different uniforms.
In addition, my point of view on the elite units-discussion would be that that there shouldn't be any recruitable elite units but instead units would gain different decorations or equivalent as they increase their experience (similar to the small banners in RTW). This could be combined with the custom uniforms in some way.
Recruiting elite units isn't very realistic anyway. Elite units tend to emerge from hard fighting etc.
What do you people think?
I guess you're right. Too bad.
An army painter "à la Dawn of War", but for each regiment would be great :p
