First Poland thread.

Second -the scythemen were militia used during the Kosciuszko Uprising of 1794 and militia it should stay.

I hope for reagular units and a doze of realism, though knowing the CA we will get some Polish Nobles armed with bows and arrows.



Hard time for the commonwealth, will be interesting to stop the 'cursed trinity' of new and predatory militarist states.

huh? no not him i know he's not i'm talking about the other ones. anyways. i doubt i'll play as poland to me they seem insignificant other than their aid with the US Revolution. i remeber when this place was better the ToS has gotten out of control, do what you want but i remember when i first joined two years ago it was so much funner and lively and now everything is.. it's just not a forum as much anymore its like working for a corporation.

Hey they could be cool but i won't play them to me they are a sitting duck ripe for annexation!

Btw i know lots of polish girls at my uni and they are quite simply lovely very fiery and independent, despite over-bearning and tyranical fathers!

you didn't offend anyone and thats also i good reason to not play as poland. you would easily get overrun (i always did by HRE and Hungary in M2) by the surrounding powers

Poland was extremely boring in M2TW, only a couple good units, which were all cavalry, strelzcy, Polish Guard/Knights and Hussars. Not a single good and unique infantry unit. And their cannons/gunpowder sucked.

Aside M2TW, it will definitely be interesting to see how Poland-Lithuania (still around in the early/middle 1800 century, barely?) Even if they won't be playable.

Assuming that the game starts directly from the year 1700, then Poland will be pretty strong right? I mean their lands were still pretty huge.
But how was their internal situation, economy and stuff, military? Were they still capable of anything?

Somewhere around the late 1700s Poland would be in a very bad postition though.

So i quess they got huge masses of land and weak army...

A Swede ? Checking for the Deluge it was Sweden which lost the war and Poland somehow had to fight half a dozen other enemies at that time - look to yourself. Besides it is not the place for historical lectures.


In the early 1700 Poland was VERY weak - 52 years of endless wars, exhausting campaign against Turkey with little profit, civil war in Lithuania and a Saxon king whose election was a costly mistake.

Peace, peace , peace - 25 years at least was necessary, but instead we got bloody useless Great Northern War with all its consequences.


So in the ETW POland should be very difficult to play.


And when it comes to the units - it is bloody CA which is held responsible for such roster as they produce for Poland all this bloody time.

This timeframe gives some important and interesting possibilities, but knowing those people they WILL WASTE every chance anyway.
