I've copied this post from the 'official forum' as it may be useful for helping people resolve some installation problems.
The following is the series of screens that will be shown when RTR 6 Gold is launched. Where the sequence is affected by use of switches (-nm for no movies) a note will be included to show what is skipped).
The intention is to add some information on the known failures. The obvious one is where RTR 6 Gold is installed over a version of RTW later than 1.2.
Screen 1:
When you launch the game a red splash screen is shown;
Screen 2:
Followed by the Activision / Copyright screen
Then a movie starts with the introduction over two different screens (paragraphs appear one at a time)( If you press the escape key it will jump to the list of contributors);
Note: If you use the -nm switch the movies won't play and the Loading Screen (screen 7) will be shown (rather bizzarly I get the red background Main Menu if I do this).
Screen 3:
Screen 4:
It then plays a battle sequence (this is part of the first movie);
Screen 5:
The RTR logo will then be shown;
Screen 6:
The second movie will start listing the contributors over two screens;
Screen 7:
The loading screen (with the version number in the bottom right hand side) (Edited: this image was updated 7/1/2007 as screen looks different to previous one);
Screen 8:
The Main Menu is then shown;
Note: The loading screen 'in game' will not have the version number in the bottom right hand side).
The following are some of the known errors.
After the Activision / Copyright (screen 2) is shown the following appears;
Just the error message (a bit easier to read);
This means that you've installed RTR 6 Gold over a later version of RTW than 1.2. RTR 6 Gold only works with RTW patched to 1.2.
**** The following links don't work as they link to the forum that is down at the moment - they are not my threads so I can't re-post them.....
You can either manually patch the game to 1.2 - see under the heading "How can I install the official version 1.2 patch manually?" in the following post; http://forums.totalrealism.net/index.php?s...?showtopic=8308
The other topic to read is the following - it will help you identify which version of the RTW game you have and the options you have in order to play either RTR 6 Gold or RTR 6 PE (Platinum Edition);
