Default Any way to view passwords saved to your cookies?

I have an account to another forum that I visit frequently, and my username and password is saved. But I never changed the password from when I first got it, and it's simply a string of 4 random letters & numbers. I forgot it long ago. Actually that's a lie, I never knew it anyway.

Since at some point these cookies could get deleted, my computer could die, or any number of other things happen, I would like to be able to find this information.

And there is a function to send your password to your email account, but that email account died years ago.

What browser are you using? Can you not log into the account and go to your profile and change the email address on file so that if you request a password reset it sends it to a valid email address?

If you use Firefox, go to tools>options>security>show passwords. If you had a master password, you will be asked to type that in first.

If you can still log on to the forum that you cannot remember your password from, then PM an admin and ask them to reset your password.

Note that stored passwords are not the same as cookies. Cookies will hopefully not contain your password. Your cookie at the TWC forum, for instance, contains a hash of your password (I think salted), whereas your cookie for the wiki doesn't contain your password in any form at all.

I don't use Firefox's saved passwords. It's not really secure: there are known exploits to get the password for the current site using JavaScript, for instance, and any program with disk access could easily sniff out a list of your passwords. Plus, not using it forces you to remember passwords, so you don't get locked out of your online life if you leave your customer computer.
