    Default Missile Unit Stand Ground.

    Is there a way to have your Missile units to stand ground and not reposition themselves? I remember RTW had this when you enabling the Guard button for missile troop, doesn't seem working any more in MTW2.

    Some missile is cable as front line shock troop (French & Milan Crossbow, or Hand Gunner for examples). Actually I can live without that, however the auto reposition get annoy real fast when I reach gun powder unit since most of the time what they do is run back and forth reposition themselve and end up not firing a shot for the entire battle save a couple of volley at the beginning.

    Gunpowder units can not fire from the back of the line like Crossbow and bow so usually after 2 sides charges at each other I have them form rows on the 2 flanks, the thing is even when they have a good and safe distance to fight, any shifts in the enemy formation will just cause them to run back while they're still in perfect position to fire. Even more annoying is with bow unit, sometimes I put them or eventually retreat them to behind the front line, so they're completely safe, but again, as soon as the enemy close in they still run further back like idiots even they have knights covering their front.


    Is there any where to stop this automatic behavior? I don't mind order them to run manually if I have to do it, as of now that's a more favorable option.

    Just turn skirmishing off.

    Also, play the tutorial or read your manual. :-)

    no no, I did that, I turned Skirmishing off. Although isn't that a little weird, I mean ... they shouldn't run unless you turn it off right?

    that is a double negative sentence, replace the off word with on then it will make sense. you just confused the crap out of all the people trying to help u.

    Well, they can route if scared but shouldn't do skirmishing if they are told not to do so. Mine don't skirmish when I have skirmishing off at least.

    And musketeers are bound to do dumb reforming resulting in them not firing at all. Making thinner lines of musketeers helps a bit here, but not much. Blame CA not me. :-)

    I think you didn't get what I meant. In some case I want them to do skirmish. As in don't run away until I told them to. The problem I'm having is that they *Never* hold their position and always run around like idiot.

    That's what I said what you suggested is akward, I don't have problem with unit doing skirmissing, I have problem with them not doing that at all. (Unless doing Alt Click, but that's not the point).

    Blame CA not me. :-)
    I'm just asking whether there is a way to disable this behavior >_<

    Again.
    If you turn off skirmish and turn on hold position, they won't move unless told to do so.

    Try thinner lines for your gunners, this should help.

    This is a simple problem that you would know the answer to if you read the manual, just turn skirmish mode off.
