    I know I'm not the only one with this problem. Say your playing as England, you take York before the Scots can, but after being taken over they keep their army in the province. Now I've played the English(mmm..longbowmen) and it's not just the Scots. The French do it in Caen so do the Spanish, the Portagues in Caernarvon, etc. now 90% of the time it happens I'm not at war with them, and alot of the time their my allies(no I don't give them military access) If I want a fight, yeah i'll attack, but how do you get them out without starting a fight? What do you fine warriors do to rectify this very annoying situation?

    Only way that I know how to do it is plop a nice big stack of your own nearby (in the "red zone"). The AI usually takes the hint and will withdraw from your territory. Of course this is assuming you have a large army to spare.

    However if they are doing this and you notice neutral diplomats and princessess performing actions at your cities (IE performing the proposal animation but you dont get a pop up) it means they are gearing for war so you might as well take the initiative and just attack them.

    i was never really sure about this; is it a failed bribe or do they demand an amount of money that you do not have?

    I've found this to be true;

    If princesses or diplomats do the proposal animation but the window doesn't pop it, it means that they are gearing for war. The nation will eventually attack you if you don't make their diplomat/princess leave. It may not be next turn or even in 10 turns, but within 20 turns they will attack.

    To get the princess/diplomat away from your city, just send a diplomat to that city and give the princess/diplomat ~500 florins. This will make them leave within a turn or two. 80% of the time, this will prevent the oncoming war.

    Yea Wayne, I thinks it is a failed bribe. I had durazzo as Byzantines and the Venetians were doing that for a few turns and then one turn they did it again and the city was converted to Venetian.

    If it's a failed bribe, how come princesses do it too.

    Unless they are asking for one of your family member's hand in marriage, but failed?.

    Yeah, Princess does do that, but they can also fail. The cute thing about it is that sometime if the Princess fails she will be married into your faction (although for some reason most of the time she doesn't show up as the wife of said general).

    I think she can bribe too, since many time they do that to one of my married general.

    Princesses can't bribe...

    At least, not the player's princess.

    The AI princess appears can, like I said, they do that a lot of time to a married general. If it's not marry or bribe, then what can it be?

    Unless she accepts to be the second wife in line, which doesn't do too much to drag my general to her country

    Odd, I've had AI princesses doing their animation turn after turn outside both settlements with no general present and settlements where the only general is already married.

    And what about when you take Jerusalem and the stupid Fatamides leave their ship in the Dead sea and it's just hanging there, with maybe one or two units thar retreat on it?? And I've tryed to build a mercenary ship into the Dead sea but it wouldent build?? This also happened to me in my previous campaigne when I took Scandinavia from the Danes, and they were even more cleaver and used the damned thing to retreat on it and recuperate???

    Man, I hate when people won't leave your province. This always happens to me when I play Milan and take Ajaccio - the Sicilians, Spanish, Portugese, even the French always have a bunch of scrubs sitting on the island doing nothing. Periodically they attack me, so I have to keep a stack in Ajaccio which is a total waste of money. It's really annoying.

    I also get the thing where diplomats/princesses give the motion with no pop-up. During my last campaign I played as Milan and the a diplomat from the Papal States kept doing that to Genoa. Like every turn for half the game. The Pope was Milanese, too, so it was really strange... never attacked me though.

    From what I understand Jethro, if a Diplomat or Princess(neutral) start making the gesture with no pop-up, their gearing up to attack. If I'm wrong someone please correct me.

    Well ya, but the Papal States never attacked me. Maybe their diplomat just really liked Genoan salami or something, because he never left. Really weird.

    or the other factions march through your provinces, allied or not and you can't do something. when i march through provinces without military entrance, they sent me a message, that they don't like me anymore, i can't do something like this.
    or is there something i don't know; a diplomatic thing?

    @JethroNull
    and when you attack them, cause they stay with their army near your city, the alliances broken with all and you are the bad guy.

    From what read on other sites Joe its a programming issue, but don't quote me on it. If they did fix it then they should have a "GET OFF MY FRIGGEN' PROPERTY" option in diplomacy.

    Knowing the AI, though, if you select, Leave my province(s) immediately, it would show as very demanding and you would probably have to give them a lot of cash for it.
