Default 7600 GT the best choice?

My friend wants to upgrade his video card. He has an AGP motherboard, a 400w power supply, 1GB ram and a pentium processor (I don't know what kind).

His current card is I think the 6150.

I am pretty sure the best choice is the 7600GT, since there's not really anything better available for AGP. Any advice, or a different card that would be a better choice? He's not going to spend $200 or more on this.

well, I know there are better AGP cards... but I doubt they cost a lot less than 200$ and they will probably be hard to find.

...though if you look at newegg, they do have several ATI cards (like the 1950pro) and a 7800GS for around 150$... and even more choices if you go above 200$

The 7600 GT is actually quite a good card (at least for me). I can run M2TW at all the highest settings without lag (sometimes it stutters a bit, though, I think that's more with my CPU).

I am using the 7600GT... no compaints..

The only thing is you dont have the options for Anti-Aliasing x16.. only to Anti-Aliasing x 6 and you dont have the option for Very High texture .. you will notice these options are only available if you have a 512MB or greater memory graphic card. I had one thats how I know.. but I switched to the 7600 GT because it was the best performer for the price.

If your willing to fork out the cash.... go with the 8800GTX superclocked.. !!!!

Use your best judgement though... keep in mind.. with Kingdom Expansion coming out.. 7600GT may be a stretch.. you may want to consider a 7900GTX or higher to ensure your purchase will last you for the next graphics upgrade..

Also... EVGA (EVGA.com) has a step up program...

7600GT is good, I have the pci-e version still serves me well in most games, however if you can locate a radeon x1950pro it is vastly superior.

Despite the non-complaints from the above, I'd reccoment you go for an ATIX1950Pro.
Pretty fast, as you can see
    here
    and here
and lots of other places if you look for benchmarks
