Your countrys fastest Internet connection?

I live in Sweden where most people are connected to the Internet in some way. Read an article today about a woman, age 75, who sits on a connection with a bandwidth of 40 Gbps... A DVD takes 2-3 seconds to download and she can transfer 1500 hdtv channels simultaneously...

As you might have guessed shes not a normal customer. Shes the mother of a swedish internet guru. She also use the "server room" in her basement to dry clothes since the superrouters used gets pretty hot...

Question: what is the fastest connection in use where you live? That is apart from research and development facilities...

Country Australia - I download at 26.5 kbps. If I want to watch a 5 minute YouTube video it takes 15 minutes to buffer.

Then I guess TWC can be a pain sometime with all the avatars, sigs and images. Im on a 100 Mbps connection and its still slow sometimes...

I saw somebody post here the other day that they were downloading a mod at 240-260 kbps. I was green with envy. I told my wife. She said "That is not fair!"

I think in the UK ADSL goes up to 8Mbps, but hardly anyone can get that because they live to far away from the exchange. I'm not sure what the fastest connection is on Cable but its faster then ADSL.

The problem is with the UK most peoples phone lines are old fashion cooper wires, when in fact what we need to get a decent connection is fibre optic cables, but the cost of up dating the telephone wire infrastructure is huge. It’s ok for Sweden you only have a population of about 8 million, the UK has a population of 60 million to cater for.

Im almost reluctant to admit it after what you just said, but I get annoyed when download speed gets below 400 kbps...

Takes about 30 mintes to load a 10 minute youtube video.

Nearly anything else(podcasts videocasts,demos) is just not even worth attempting because it takes days, literally days!
Its totally ridiculous.

Sometimes my interent becomes so small it takes about 30 seconds to load a TWC page.

You know, those thing pretty much sucks, especially the word wireless when it comes to speed.

I had 2/Mbps before, now I think I've measured it to 5.
Why I'm not sure is we(family) took a new binding-period with the same distributor, and they raised our speed as "thanks".

Well, thing is that the Swedish government has decided that every citizen in this remote kingdom have equal rights to a good internet connections and to equal costs. Therefore you can find fast broadband fiber networks in VERY small communities as well... The people up north only have to wait a little longer until the networks are fully expanded... Many people also use 3G Wireless solutions these days and costs are dropping for these services...

Melbourne a major australian city i get around 60 kbps when downloading mods but it sometimes goes up to around 100 but then again australia has third world standerd internet

How much do you pay in tax where you live? Here approx 30% of your salary is deducted in tax. Might seem a lot to some, but then again we have a pretty good health care and education system. Infrastructure, such as roads leaves a lot to be desired in some regions, but overall the money is well spent. Then we can pay an additional fee on our salary, which leaves us with 80% of our recent income if one becomes unemployed.

I download at 40-60 kbps which pisses me off because the guy across the street from me has the same ISP and he downloads at 600-700 kbps(Roadrunner US).
