Default How do I stop my faction leader from dying of old age?

Tell him to go on a diet and exercise?
Seriously though, my faction leader is only 63 and I need him to hang in there for just one more turn, but he dies every time.

In vanilla, If I remember correctly, the oldest age a character can get to is about 62-63.

So I guess the only way is by modding.

There's been some posts about this in the last couple'o months but I will sum it up.

You need an unpacked game, in the data folder you will find descr_campaign_db.xml. Within this file you can edit settings, the parameter most relevant for your characters death is suprisingly "old age". Once he is considered old he has a chance to die every tun up to "max age".

Changes made within this file apply to all named characters, aka spies, priests the pope and such.

Make a backup before changing anything.

Having more than 4 kids in "max kids" makes your game unstable.

Hope this helped. You can often find useful info in the mod workshop and with the search function (sorry 4 being anal).

i remember in RTW, my generals could easily get up to their 70's. I read some got their generals up in the 80's and 90's. Why did they decide to change it for M2TW?

Well health was definitely better in Rome than in medieval times.

Here is a funny haha I like to do when you know your general is going to die from old age or he is just a crappy general that you don’t want, send him and just him on a fast ride through a warring factions territory avoiding battle and retreating as soon as any battle starts that you are forced into. Sometimes to mess up their production you can lay a siege for a turn or two with him. Your enemy will chase him all over the place weakening their border if he is deep enough and he will also draw out any assassins or spies they may have. If you see the enemy giving chase chances are they are forces from their front lines and it creates a good opportunity to attack. But all together it is just fun. And it is classic to use this trick against Mongols and might even save a city for you if they chase after him you can even lead the Mongols into a rival factions territory.

I think the oldest age I have ever seen in my games was 67. However, more than once the game has offered me a 69-year-old man as a husband for one of the royal daughters... which I of course refused (-_-)

    edit: the 69-year-old offer (-_-)

How to stop your faction leader from dying of old age?

    Simple.
Have him killed in a battle before he gets old. He'd die, but at least he won't die of old age.

Seriously though, just do what Furin suggested.
