Default Are princesses an incomplete part of the game?

So a princess propsosed to marry one of my generals.

I can't even see which faction she belongs to and how many charm points she has.

According to some of the posts on here, if her charm was strong enough, my general would leave my family to join hers, right?

If he marrys her, could I lose this general?

And I don't even see any princesses near my general.

You could use a spy to see her traits/ancillaries/charm and the color of her clothes indicates which faction she is from.

And yes, your general will join the other faction if the princess is successful.

If you are given the choice whether to marry or not, then you do not lose the general. You only lose the general after another faction's princess marries him (unless he is a King or Heir, in which case you will make an alliance), in which case you don't get a choice. It works kind of like an assassination.

Charm helps the success rate, the lower the charm the higher the chance the marriage proposal will either be declined or the princess running off with that general to join the general's faction. If a princess is of your faction and you propose marriage to a general or family member (that are not related by blood) in your own faction, they will always have a 100% success rate. Any general that marries a princess has a slight increase in loyalty, so it helps with some of your factions more disloyal generals (again make sure they are not related by blood).

    HAHA Inbreeding.
Hmm bout that, if you keep them inside cities for too long they will get those stupid traits, like yappy dog or utter snob. Chastity belt and smothering guards and just wrong.

Oh I get it. He's not talking about other faction's princesses but princesses that appear as marriageable. Like the wives of RTW in which a message pops up stating if you want your general to marry this woman.

I don't quite get this either for it seems to offer nothing. You can either accept or deny. Well if you want Sons or princesses you'll need wives though it is odd on why you be given the option to decline when there's clearly nothing strategic or relevant about it. Unless you wanted to keep a marriageable alliance but even so that's rare.

You will not lose your general if you accept.

Exactly. The marriage alliance doesn't even work because you can't even find out what faction is trying to marry your general (except for the name of the princess). When this happens, there are no princesses anywhere near the general.

I'm 30 turns in and never had any princesses.

Historically, the king had to approve of marriages, especially for royalty.

Disregard my previous comment, I thought you were talking about the princesses ON the map, not the pop-up ones.

    I apologize.
