    Default Another "new player"

I am also a new player to this game, but not the series, i have played rtw and the BI expansion.
I just got mtw2 about 2 or 3 days ago, and i have a few questions i couldnt find the answers for by looking through past threads. Anyways without further ado(spl?) my question.
How do you keep your money above bankrupt? In RTW it was attack a city at every chance you had, occupy it, and it seemed that the income on your citys would go up, which would make your total amount of denarii rise.
In this game, i attack citys, occupy them and nothing, i still become bankrupt. All my citys show a high income of 1,000 or higher, but why am i still getting bankrupt. Obviously something is different with the monetary system in mtw2 than in rtw, but im not getting it.
Your input would be appreciated. One last thing, is the expansion worth getting, because it was not for rtw.

well in RTW the upkeep was shown in the cities income in the settlement page. In this game the upkeep is no longer shown in the cities income. so you have to check your financial tab constantly.

Settlements in M2TW report their total income instead of RTWs system, which, while I never bothered to it figure out, seemed to report a city's income minus that city's contribution to your empires upkeep (based on size, income, or whatever it was). Your upkeep costs are calculated and subtracted from the total of all your settlements' incomes at the end of the turn. You're probably going broke because you've got more units than your empire can support. You can click on the financials tab to see exactly how much you're taking in and how much is going out. A financial report is also generated at the beginning of each turn you can look at.

Sacking settlements instead of occupation gives you an instant boost of cash, something I find very valuable especially in the cash tight early game.

Since your new to RTW/MTW II I would check out my guide in my sig. Scroll through the economics section to give you answers.

Edit: Either the terrorists have launched an artillery barrage or that was a really loud thunder.

You can actually play the entire game successfully with auto-management on for both taxes and building construction for all settlements. However ensure auto-recruitment is off because it will take literally decades to get a decent army.
