    Default New player with questions

Hi guys, ive only had the game for 2 days and im well in to a short campaign and loving the game so far but would like to know a couple things.

    1) how do i create generals?

    2) in the campaign is there a way to get rid of the maximum number of turns and just have the game go on indefinitely until i conquer the entire world?

    3) when i am chasing fleeing units with my calvary, they often scatter and don't actually attack, an i have to keep clicking attack until they eventually charge the fleeing units. is there a fix for this? (i installed patch 1.2 but then the game crashed on startup)

    4) what are inquistors and why are they able to hit units over the head with a book and kill them? how do i stop them?

    1) Each big group of units gets a general. Whether or not that general can be adopted depends on battles. Heroic victories are best at turning generals into family members. Heroic victories come from having very few deaths and killing many enemies, or overcoming dramatic odds.

    4) Inquisitors come somewhat randomly, but more often when your regions are not very religious. Make sure each settlement and castle has a priest at ALL times. When traveling, make sure your armies have a priest. Your family members will slowly gain piety from the priests.

Also a hint: make sure you move out any transferable ancillaries prior to old age deaths. Some of them can be moved from family member to family member. This will allow you to keep ancillaries that increase piety, for example.

    Hello, Mr. Threepwood.

    1) You would need to play a modded version of the game. Recruitable generals are not available in normal (vanilla) M2TW.

    2) If you ever reach the win goals for your faction, you are given the option to return to the main menu or continue playing. You could potentially play forever, and I'm sure I've seen some people playing as far as the 1900s. No new events, inventions, or technology appears, however, and the game will basically stall at 1500s tech levels.

    3) It's a minor bug in 1.0. I suggest asking the Technical Help forum about finding a way to fix your CTD when patching to 1.2. If you plan to keep playing 1.0, then the best way to keep your cavalry from scattering during the chase is to force them to move to a spot ahead of the routing unit. When you cavalry pass through the routing unit, single click the enemy unit. Immediately, your horsemen will go to town on the fleeing units.

It's a bit of micromanagement, really. So I suggest going ahead and asking Tech Help to patch your game.

    4) You can't stop them. You can only prevent them from appearing by having good relations with the pope and keeping Catholicism levels in all your settlements very high and keeping Heresy levels down, preferably nonexistant.

They smack you with their bibles because they suspect your character of being a heretic. Unless the target has high piety, he may be subject to the inquisitor's judgment and be burned at the stake.

Either prevent them from spawning, or remove your generals and agents from the area should one appear and relocate somewhere safe and away until the Inquisitor leaves.

Does this apply if you don't win the goals?

As in the 2xx turns run out(I forget the exact amount). Do you still get the option to play forever?

    1. you don't create generals (unless using some mods) - they are family members
    2. no need to edit the maximum number of turns - you can continue playing, but even if you conquer everything it won't be recorded as a victory
    3. no fix for that (weird your game crashes with 1.2patch)
    4. use assassins to kill the inquisitors- it's the only way

Like Sher Khan said you should go to technical help for the patching problem. I think there's a v 1.2 solution thread in there.

I see, thanks for the help now i understand it all. I will do some reading in the tech forum and try and get patch 1.2 working, because that calvary bug is quite annoying!

No wonder i see inquisitors, I don't waste my time with religion, I have spent my time building up the largest army. I wage war with everyone and crush everyone in my path, fun fun fun!!

One more question: i don't want to get caught up in downloading tons of mods, but are there any large "must have" mods that no one should do without?

    Lands to Conquer

    Stainless Steel

    Deus Lo Vult

    The Long Road

    Clouds Across Europe

These I think are the big names in released mods. Check through their forums and pick the one you like best. I suggest getting Lands to Conquer for a M2TW mod that doesn't change the overall look and feel, but has several bug fixes, balances, and AI boosts.

After that, it's your personal choice on what you want. Ask in the Mod Recommendations thread for more help.
