If you have a machine that can run RTW on high, but M2TW on medium or low, like I had, then RTW will look better.

Yep it all depends on your PC specs but theres one thing that you can do that will help. Turn off the shadows this setting is takes alot of juice from your Processor and Videocard

If you can only play rome on medium, then I don't recommend getting M2.

Depends how old your processor is, but I treated myself to a new Graphics card/Video card before I bought M2TW. I have an AGP slot for my card, and most slots these days are PCI express. I bought the best available card for AGP at the time, the NVIDIA G-force 7800 and it cost me somewhere around £170-180. I still can't get it to go highest graphics without any FPS problems, but I can get it looking pretty decent with normal unit scale. If I have to go large on multiplayer I just turn unit, vegetation, grass detail down. And anyway, I doubt many people can put theirs on full graphics with decent fps, since these days they make games whereby you need a higher spec for your PC than is actually on the market to play full graphics, so these games still match standards in the years to come. (I think that was a sentence )

Graphically RTW is a match on 1 higher setting, the main difference is the nicer animations and mixed units. Play it because you like the period, not because its a better game graphically.

A mongolian tribesmen would know more about pc's than me.

My rig is about 5 years old. Only thing that I've changed is added more ram, got 1.5 now.

I run M2 with pretty much everything on medium, no with no anti-aliasing and bilinear for whatever it letrs me pick it for.

I have reflections and bloom on and frankly thats fine to make the game look good in my view.

Make sure you have unit scale on normal or low, the extra units just clog up the system.

MTW II on shaders 2 will look better than RTW, if not they will be about the same. And compared to RTR. MTW II isn't even close.

ive found that mtw2 on medium to low settings, is much much better looking than rtw on medium to low settings. First off when on low RTW units have stick legs and arms. That is not so for mtw2.

I think the one thing which makes the game look really great is a high resolution and anti alias. After turning it up and getting rid of all the jagged edges i'm a lot more pleased with the graphics

I'm no PC expert, and I have absolutely no idea what half of that means. I would however upgrade your graphics card. I treated myself to the NVIDIA GeForce FX 7800 before Christmans last year, so I could play Medieval 2 when I go it on Christmas day. I played the demo alot before I got it, but even on lowest graphics settings it wouldn't run without some lag. Find out what slot your computer has for the graphics card - AGP or PCI Express* (if you don't know already and treat yourself to a new graphics card.

*Just incase you don't know, graphics cards are only made for one slot. A card made for an AGP slot will not fit PCI Express, and vica versa.

Yeah, if anything your graphics card is holding you back, the 2gb of ram you are getting should help a ton though.

If you don't upgrade it my guess is you will have to play mostly on low settings.

Does anyone know where I can get decent choice in Processors? I check BestBuy but they dont seem to have anything good, some old pice of junk, same goes for Circuit City and such. As for Newegg.com, hmm last time i bought minitor in there I had about 15 dead pixels. lol.
One more thing, I dont even know what kind of motherboard I have. I know its from Asus or w.e but damn.

Have a look around Amazon.co.uk or Play.com - I got my graphics card from one of those.

As it happens, I only have 1gig of ram. Would upgrading this make much of a difference?
