What Heavy Cavalry do you think is the most effective all-around. French Lancers, Russian Tsars Guard, Hungarian Royal Banderium, Egyptian Royal Mamluks, or a unit i didnt mention.

IN PATROCINIVM SVB MARENOSTRUM
Mamluke archers, because you can leave them alone for 5 seconds without them being run down by a passing spear unit - and they have an AP melee weapon.
The only heavy charging cavalry I use are bodyguards. 90% of my charges are into flanks and rear so the power of the cavalry isn't a significant factor - the other 10% is genrals hiting enemy units frontally because there isn't another option.
tsars guard in open fields..
French Lancers. Create custom battle vs any best non spear unit and look 90-95% of it die in single charge. It's something brutal, if you think about that this cavalry actually can hold melee versus Tsars.
Heavy cavalry with lighting charge speed.
Tsar have no lances, and awfull at charge.
If there is a big battle going on i prefer tsars guard, with the lansers u must control all the time, charge step back then charge again to be fully efective, you must have an eye on them all the time, tsars guard you can leave fore a while on the battlefield and look how´s going on in other places. anyway besides that i tried the guards vs lancers and guards win like 5-1 times, but if you just have a cavalry unit and nothing more to control, then yes you could inflict more damage with the lancers to other units, if you charge and run then charge again, but if you just charge and leave to fight tsars is still better..
The one charging into the rear of the enemy.
Khan's Guard
Hammer & Sickle - Karacharovo
And I drank it strait down.
