Weird Sally glitch?

I'm playing as Scythia, besieged the Brutii at Thessalonica, and they sallied. But then, they just sat in their town and never came out to fight me. "Big deal," I thought, "They'll just lose the city." I was wrong. They sallied again in the same turn. Same thing happened, they wouldnt come out. so then they sallied AGAIN(all in the same turn) and I don't know what to do. I thought you could only sally once per turn, since I tried and it wouldn't let me. And I can't assault, since my entire army is HAs and I have no siege equipment. I'm on 1.5 and have used no cheats. Anyone know whats happening?

Well I figured out a solution. I didn't want to, but I had no choice. I knew I was going to win either way, so I used the Auto win cheat. It cost me more casualties, but at least I was able to get the settlement.

btw computer ( AI ) can sally as many time as they want in turn while u can sally only once

Exactly while playing SPQR sometimes can be a night mare.....

If you want to fix it, put a time limit on before you start the battle.

I did put a time limit on, I think 45 minutes. I got the battles to end, they just would never ever come out to get me.

What units were in your army? I had the same problem as Carthage, where I sieged a Brutii town and they sallied, and stayed inside the city. Turns out the game expected me to tear down some walls with the elephants in my army (a nightmare with a bunch of velites shooting at them!)

So maybe you had some unit that could damage walls or gates.

I think its because the garrison (all infantry?) knows it cannot chase down your all cavalry force. Had you had one unit of infantry in the army I think the garrison would have come out.

Only other thing I can think of. Is voluntary rout one or more units. Perhaps the game will adjust the odds enough to think it now has a chance so it will sally properly.

That might have been it. I think in a previous sally they all came out, until I shot their cavalry to bits and they stayed in the walls for the last few minutes.

I say some dedicated modder should fix the AI, Because it isn't fun when an entire Parthian Army tries to flank you when your staring straight at it......
