    Default Diplomacy?

Booting up RTW for the first time in a very long time ,(tried EB, deleted it, not my thing at all, guess RTR spoiled me).

Last version of RTRPE I played was some time ago, there were still Galatians then.

I am wondering what was changed with Diplomacy. I remember well as Greece the macedonians going to war with me, I would be able to take 3 or 4 fo their cities and was able to trade them back for a favorable peace.

Now I find that in many games so far, as Gaul, Numidia, and Greece, that I go to war with Rome, Carthage, or Macedonia and take all but one of their provinces and the AI , when offered all its provinces back and 25000+ in funds for a simple ceasefire will not accept (playing medium/medium). Even when they have one town left and it is besieged, they will not accept in any case even when offered all their lands back and huge sums of money.

Is this intended for some reason? Can I adjust this? I would like to have peace without having to destroy factions.

Give them a big sum of money 75000-100000 and ask them to be protectorates they will accept when they are under critical conditions.....

Oh...Numidia is a faction that has to struggle a lot and the challenge lies in how you maintain a balance between money and upkeep in the initial stages situations will improve when you take over Carthaginian lands.....

Thank you, comment on my mod after trying, btw its not and Indian Mod....its just to begin with the Indians, it will soon include a new historically accurate Arab faction of Al-Sabyans and Casse in british region......

It is very difficult for the enemy to accept your acts of diplomacy, even if they are very near the end of their overall destruction. It usually works if at least 2/3 of their settlements have been taken and you are currently laying siege to their capital. Usually they will ask for a ceasefire, first. Try offering them to be your protectorate.

Although in your current situation, that wouldn't help much. Worked for me. I really do not have any other alternative, as it is not my area of expertise. It seems they have the greatest pride....in never subjugating to your ceasefires or deals. What made them hate you so much lol....hehe

    Anyways good luck.

I managed to fight the romans (before attacking they had around 40 cities)

and I sieging their last city, Massalia, with three full stack armies I lifted the

siege and offered to make them protectorates for 20,000.. and they refused..

The AI is bugged for shared borders. Especialy on harder difficulties if you have a shared border and they have any extra troops they will attack you. They will also almost never accept a ceasfire while you share a single common land border. The way to get peace is to give the shared land to another faction, or let it rebel, so that you no longer share the border, and then only start asking for peace. Thats just way to much trouble for me. I just kill the faction once they declare war. Factions I want alive I make sure to never share a border with them.
