1.2 patch install problems

I am having a miserable time trying to install the 1.2 patch. My current install of MIITW works fine but the patch is telling me it can not find the install. Unfortunately, I can not reinstall the game right now because my box and manual (and hence the install key) are buried in a box somewhere while we move house and is not likely to resurface any time soon. I am using the original disk and my original install of 1.0 still works perfectly.

So my question is which bit of the registry do I need to edit so as to allow the 1.2 patch to find the install of the 1.0 game and so complete the upgrade?

Any help appreciated.

Same problim I download "succefuly" the patch but when I tried to install it an error box say that there is no find any version of MII Total War, my orginal verision is 1.0 and he work nicely and without any crack or inserting DVD disk anyyyyy help pleassssseeeee.

hi, if you've installed from the original disks, 1.2 patch should be able to detect the install. if not make a .reg file with the key below and add it to your registry.

I thought I'd ask my question here since this is already up. After I installed patch 1.2 the exe still reports its version as 1.1. If I try reinstalling it says the patch 1.2 is detected as installed. I was looking for a no-cd for it as well and the exe there is ...yup version 1.1. I don't get it...
