    Default Historic Guide?

    Hi,

After a while away, ive started playing the latest version of RTR. I remember someone produced a guide to playing historically, along with how to make realistic roman legions and stuff.

Although ive searched i cant seem to find it anywhere. Does anyone have a link?

    Hence the name.....
Ultimate Guide to Playing RTR Historically as the Romans
At the old RTR forums there were a few more other guides on playing a few other factions historically, but they went down with the forums. Though, Candelarius`s guide and the other one that it comprise was probably the most detailed and it`s the best illustrated.
If anyone would like to start a guide on playing historically as the carthaginians(for example) it would be great.

I`d be willing to contribute to a carthaginian guide, but I`m not willing to do it all by myself and mentain it.

I have no power to maintain the thread but I can start the same thread from RTR in TWC-RTR ... hopefully people will again contribute.

Yes, but do you honestly think that people will not give feedbacks(meaning criticize) the previous army? Not to mention that this means the first guy who post an army for a faction will end it. And he might have a lot of mistakes in there. Maybe you could make a thread for each(or at least some) of the factions.

Well I want feed-back but I want them to PM me ... then if I 'could' I will edit as need be and delete those comments from people who are unable to follow the directions ... as soon as we have every faction done we can sticky it and people can feel free to blast away publicly.
It has worked before ... on the RTR-forum (w/ your help then if I am not mistaken) I don't see why this should be different.
PS thank you for contributing Florin you are always there in line to help!

The book "Selevkid army and tactics in the Great Campaigns"

and by tonnes of other books I meant many books with scraps of information in

this category, which, together are quite something (and I mean many, live

near a library packed with history books)

A few are about Alexander III and his successors most about the antolian

fights between selevkos and antigonus later selevkos and lysander

Would that be Bar-Kochva`s book "The Seleucid Army: Organisation and Tactics in the Great Campaigns" ? I can`t find any other...

Then please give a few examples. I`m not testing you. I`m interested because I might find out about a new one. Thanks!

To the first: Yes it is his book

To the second: I kept two Such as "Alexander the Great by Lewis Cummings"

and one book printed in 1956 "Rise and fall of the Diadochi" forgot by who..

Most of the books I borrow and return unless they're very good

edit: Also "A Companion to the Hellenistic World" was a nice read

hey...if we build stuff full of knowledge like these threads...wouldn't start making sense to build a RTR section or set of pages on the twc-wiki? I mean this kind of data doesn't deserve to be buried in forums, it deserves to be wiki-fied, available for edit by members, version history, inclusion of graphics, and a better appearance?

you could still use the forums for discussing various entries if you wanted....provide a link to the wiki page in question...

just an idea.... but information that isn't really discussion....needs to be in a more "permanent" format - and a wiki page is a great way to have it....

think about it....just an idea... the wiki markup isn't very hard to master...
