(Moved to vote) University Medal Ammendment (the "I can't believe I am doing this again bill")

I am proposing the medal system for the university again. No real substantive changes, except for a line laying out explicitly who gives the medals in the first place.

TWC University Medals System

The following text would be added to Section 5; Article 2 of the Constitution:

Graduate's Diploma

In order for a member to qualify they must have successfully completed a course within the Total War Center University, as determined by the course Professor. The award is divided into three classes and is awarded by the Administrative Council on advice from the chancellor. The Bachelor's Degree is awarded to those students which have successfully completed one course. The Master's Degree is awarded to those students who have completed two courses. The Doctorate is awarded to those students who have completed three or more courses.

Professor's Robe

In order for a member to qualify they must have successfully instructed at least one course within the Total War University, as determined by the University Chancellor.

This vote shall last for one week and shall pass with a 2/3's majority.

I definately support giving recognition to those who teach these courses, but I'm not so keen on a medal for completion of a course, the award for doing the courses seems unnecessary and could just as easily be put into a sig.
Despite that, the overall idea is good so I'd support.

It perpetuates the University and (presumably) creates another modder who can enter into the Mod. workforce should they so choose, both things which very tangibly benefit TWC and Total War in general.

Your other question concerning those who have learned on their own is understandable, and largely true. It is somewhat missing their broader purpose however, of trying to encourage the growth of the modding community. The University at its core tries to give people the tools they need to go out into the mod. workforce and be successful, if medals can be given as incentive to aid in this process then why shouldn't we install them? We sacrifice nothing in my mind, unless the modding community is honestly upset over this (which I doubt, but cannot obviously know for sure).

I suppose the modding community will have to decide if they are more concerned with who gets what toys, or strengthening the community they are a part of.

Incentives are great, but let's not lose sight of the basic concept that medals are for contributions. In the context of "medal policy"in general this is not entirely trivial. I'd rather not see the whole scheme become subject to an "ends justifying the means" kind of discussion. There's got to be some intrinsic justification.

So be it then. It's jus, you know, we have recently curbed an imminent proliferation of medals. Something like this makes it difficult to justify with hindsight.
