Default Is there a limit to adding relatives in descr_strat?

Is there a hard-coded limit to the number of relatives that you can add to the descr_strat?

I wanted more children at the start of the campaign, so I added 10 children, 8 male and 2 females, I also added a wife to the youngest of the adult male sons.

I have the '-show_err' in my short cut, but I don't think it shows relative errors. My game works fine from the start, the family tree looks perfect:

    Faction Leader with a wife

Son 1 - wife and two sons and one daughter
Son 2 - wife and one son and one daughter
Son 3- wife and three sons
Son 4 -Wife and 2 sons

I am pretty certain that my sytax is correct for the character and Relative records. All adult males are at least 17 years older than their oldest child. I pulled all valid names.

As stated before, my family tree looks great and I can play for about an hour then I get a CTD without an error - I'm guessing it's at the birth of a child.

Sorry if this has been asked before, I couldn't find anything in the search.

    Thank you,

    -AP

I don't think there is a limit so long as you follow the other rules which you seem to have. (age gap and no more than 4 kids per dad) Have you changed anything else at all? Trait or ancillary triggers that fire on coming of age would be a possible problem.

If you made changes to other files you might also want to try deleting map.rwm and re-starting, I did find recently that trying to use old one can cause 'random' CTD a few turns into game (that was an sm_factions change)

To try and work out if it is occurring at same year each time just click through the turns rather than playing out battles etc. If it is set date it could be related to something occurring at coming of age, though the family tree you describe is unlikely to be problem. Show_err does report most family problems, if not very clearly! Only thing I'd check is if you have exactly corresponding name in the character_record and relative sections for the youngsters, an error in only one of those might get past show_err but cause problem later.

    Hi,

Thank you for the reply. Here is a little more info and findings. I am using the Greek_cities. I modified the expanded_bi, shared, and strat to change all references from Greek_cities to Sparta. I did not make any changes to the text in the brackest {}, just the corresponding text. I gave my faction the regions of Kydona (crete) and Athens (Attica). I am pretty sure that I moved the building info properly from the slave faction to my faction (I've modded that many times). I moved the slave army general and his army to my faction as well and just removed the preceding text (sub-faction of greek_cities). When my game starts, I have the settlements in my control filled with the garrison. The -show_err never displays anything as the game just CTD after the turn. I saved before the crash, but can't load the game.

Another note: I did notice that the Character records for the Greek family are a bit different than most. They list the oldest adult female to youngest, then list the oldest male child to youngest then the oldest female child to youngest.

Also I did delete the map.rwm

I'll do as you suggested and fwd through the game and generate the crash.

    Thanks again for your assistance

    Hi,

    Here is an update:

I just forwarded through the beginning of a new campaign and crashed at 268 Winter moving to the next turn. At this point 2 of my 'sons' hit the 'coming of age', the next in line would have been 14. There were no errors reported, just a CTD.
