How do I alter the loyalty of family members? I'm playing a campaign as the Byzantines, at the present time, and I've lost a lot of them to their "traitorous" activities. This includes a royal prince, whose own brother had to march down into Smyrna and smash him (although this kind of thing did go on in the Middle Ages). I'd just like to see my family members a little more loyal to the crown.
By the way, Lusted, had a wonderful battle against the Venetians. I'd taken Ragusa the previous turn, with an army composed primarily of mercs, though with 2 x units of Byzantine Spearmen and 6 x units of Militia Spearmen. My army had about 1300 men in it.
The Venetians, on the other hand, had well over 2000 men, and most of this force was composed of Italian Infantry, with some Italian militia. The only advantage I had was in missile units.
I sortied, because I saw two other smaller Venetian stacks in the area. I carefully maneuvered my force in towards theirs, to take maximum advantage of my Balkan Archers, Mercenary Crossbowmen, and Turkomans. They helped me out by attacking with 1-2 units at a time, which always routed with heavy losses.
The result was the only heroic victory I've ever won with M2TW. 143 of my men were lost, and they lost 1259 men. I captured 548 men, who were not ransomed. The year was 1108.
Also, it should be noted that I use a 2-turn per year timescale, and Zappa's character aging stats from the PDER mod. Aleksios Komnenos died at the age of 74, putting his 52-year old son on the throne in 1109.
