Default Two Russian units with mere cosmetic differences?

I didn't put this in the bug thread, as I don't believe it's a LTC specific bug, but a general oversight by CA with Vanilla.

Looking at the stats for Foot Boyar Sons and Foot Druzhina, I noticed that there isn't a single bit of difference between these units as far as stats and traits goes. Not only that, but they also both use Axe and shield.

It seems like this was a mere oversight and a rather easy fix. Some possibilities could include increase in stats for one (as well as an upkeep/recruitment increase) for the Druzhina, additional traits (such as better stamina), or uh... I think I'm out of ideas.

So feel free to fire off any suggestions, rotten tomatoes in my direction, or opinions on the subject here.

Yes, it is in Vanilla. I noticed and doubled-checked to make sure. In my opinion, the Foot (and mounted) Boyars should be armed with swords rather than axes, and should have their stats adjusted accordingly. I'm not sure if either unit should really be armed with axes, but at least one shouldn't.

I saw that too, so I only used the one available sooner...

I would like to see them armed with swords as well. The only thing is, I think that involves editing the mesh files. I don't know that Lusted's too keen on making bigger modifications like that.

Frankly, just about the whole unit roster is full of axe wielding infantry. A little flavor would be nice. I've never played the Russians past the gunpowder event though, so I'm not sure what their High and Late period units look like.

Russian infantry changes very little. Foot druzhina go away and berdiche axemen are added. Past gunpowder there are the usual gunpowder units, the only significant one being Cossack musketeers.

If we can rely on this previewer, it appears boyars may be armed with swords in the expansion:

Novgorod has a good mix of missile and melee cavalry (particular the javelin-tossing, sword-toting Boyars) but they too will want to hold off fighting with their neighbors as long as possible. With tremendous opportunities to build a wealthy trade empire, they'll want to choose their wars wisely and then only after having ensured that their empire is well defended.
