campaign map question

Hey there,

Probably a stupid question, but can the Bactrians or Parthians can expand northwards toward Jaxartes or Massagetes by land or is the mountainrange blocking the way?

Also, is this the case elsewhere on the map as well?

Just found it a little weird i couldnt travel northward when playing the Bactrians...it means i will have to fight the Seleucids and i am not too eager to do that..just yet.

The mountain range you ran into is to keep those Eastern powers from expanding to the north when controlled by the AI. There is another block between Carthage and the Ptolemies for the same reason. There are downloads available to remove those, but I don't know where to get them.

They're just there on the main RTR PE download page under the 'optional add-ons'

yes, I found it annoying playing as the seleucids that the sarmations expand and

threaten bactria (totally unrealistic) and the carthaginians attack egypt

as bactria you can of course overrun the parthians and sail the Caspian Sea around the mountain range ...

you can expand north after u crush down the Parthians....the mountain range makes it realistic where every faction only fight their real enemies...

i just added a thread about this very same problem. what the hell have the editors done this for???? its completely stupid. if you want to maintain realism then why have an impassable wall of trees!?

i get the idea to stop the selucids going north but if the game was designed to be linear you may as well have made a movie.

the only reason that Numidia is a "Very Hard" faction to play as is because you cant get to egypt without taking a port city from carthage!!!!

Ok, now I feel bad for wasting my time replying to the other thread. Before using the word stupid please read the readme next time and download the optional add-on that is there for people like you. I mean those who do not want the lanblocks. The answer is already there. It`s your choice what you consider realistc really. We`ve given you both options.
