The English camp sent out scouts to determine the Moorish advance in the surrounding areas.

Scout: 'M'lord! We are atleast outnumbered 1:3! It would be wise to negotiate and fight a other day! The city of Paris has fallen like it was nothing and now a small segment of the main army is headed our way. If we resist them here, they will discover our position and send the entire army against us. If we are gone, there will be nothing left to defend Caen.'

Robert the Crusader: 'If we leave this village, than these innocent people will all die. Because of the long campaign Sultan Miswar took, his army is not enough supplied to last much longer. If we position our army on the head of this mountain, just infront of this village. Our chance of victory will be much greater. If they get a hold of this village, their supply lines will be strengthened and the main army could move on even more north. For the sake of Christian Europe we must hold this village. Are the Templars from France ready? What about our other infantry from England?'

A officer: 'Everything is ready M'lord. The stakes are positioned as you commanded and The Templars are installed on the frontline. We will be able to take a direct cavalry charge from the front, because of our strategic point on the top of the mountain. The village is surrounded with rocks. The only way to enter the village is trough this passage. We will be sure to block it with our lives. This way we can use the steep mountain in our advantage. Eventough we are outnumbered. All we have to do is hold on for awhile, in order to wear the enemy down and then chase them down. M'lord I think you should know the main army is lead by a very talented young prince named Fath Al-Andalusi. After this encounter we will be most probly facing him.'

Robert the Crusader: 'Have hope my trusted ones. Now the French and the English are fighting along sided. It is only a mather of time before the Germans and their allies arrive to assist us.'

People tell me... how do you get longbowman to place stakes... I have yet to find a button for that action.

Quite simple really, in the deployment fase you can select the "special ability" button for longdowmen, yeoman and the other unit. If you activate it you get stakes. If you move them after deploying stakes (in the deployment fase) you lose the stakes.
When you start the battle the stakes are immobile.
