Default TWC Superbowl XLII Pick-em thread

So, with all the discussion about who the best team is, now is the time to put your money where your mouth is (figuratively).

Make a post saying who you think the superbowl participants and winner will be, choosing an AFC and NFC team, as well as a final score, and in February, the ones who picked the correct team will get rep from everyone who participated in the thread, along with bragging rights for the next year.

I have chosen 18 teams for the poll, and IMO teams other than these have little shot to make the SB. However, I didn't expect the Saints to be good this year, so if you want to pick a team that isn't on the poll, go ahead.

So, to recap, vote for one team in the AFC section, one team in the NFC section, then in your post say who the winner will be and the final score.

Sorry, the poll took a few min, I didn't know it would post the thread before you finished the poll.

And I made a change, now it's both superbowl teams, and pick the winner, and final score.

    Closest one wins.

My pick, Chargers over Panthers, 27-17

Random guess: Steelers over Bears 21 - 17.

Of course, if the Steelers QB decides to chew on another car.....well....

Yeah, Moss and T.O both deserve to join Vick in prison for a while, just to et them off the field (I hate watching, and hearin about, their antics).

    Steelers vs. Panthers

Why because those are my favorite teams in their divisions.

The Steelers MIGHT do it if Ben plays like he did in the Hall of Fame game, but since I hate them I hope not. Panthers, I highly doubt it.

Steelers are not looking bad in the pre-season. If Rothlesberger ****s up, they can throw in Batch who isn't half bad either.

The Panthers are the same team that was picked by dozens of analysts to get to the Superbowl last year. And remember that they beat the almighty Saints twice.

They just had too many injuries last year, we will see if they can stay healthy this year. Although I hold little hope that Dan Morgan can stay healthy. When he plays he is one of the best LB's in the game, but he gets at least 2 concussions every year.

Plus they got rid of their super conservative OC, who handcuffed the offense by calling runs to the inside every time (when we don't have a good inside runner).

New England went to the Conference championship and barely lost to the defending champs

They are the only team on the list to make a huge improvement
New England got Adlius Thomas and Troy James added to an already sick D
They got four good WRs added to their horrible WR core

Chargers were good, but they lost Foley (RIP) and got a decent WR in the league, not nearly as big as the Pats

Colts lost June, McFarland, and their other DT
only improvement seems to be in their slot
They also lost a lot of their secondary

Steelers lost Porter and the Bus since their SB win, no really big improvements since, also lost Cowher

NFC is a joke these days
who ever wins the AFC will win the SB

IDK, I mean it's safe to assume that the NFC is vastly inferior to the AFC, but any team can beat any team on any given Sunday, so it isn't almost garunteed that an AFC team will be champion. Remember, the Bears were up 14-6 on the Colts, and the Seahawks may have even beaten the Steelers had a few calls gone their way.

The Seahawks were a better team than the Steelers IMO, they probably should have won that game.

I was cheering for the Steelers, but all evidence points to them getting lucky.

    ^^ Foley isn't dead.

He will miss the season though.
