    Default What do you think?

I think it's about time I got a new computer. I have found a promising one for not such a bad price, but before I decide on anything I must seek your guidance, you experts of TWC!

    # Cooler Master Centurion 534, Sort,
    # NorthQ 4775-500BULK, ATX 500W, 120mm
    # MSI P35 NEO-FI, P35, Socket-775, DDR2,
    # Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 2.67GHz 1333Mhz
    # XFX GeForce 8800GTS 500M 640MB GDDR3,
    # Corsair TWIN2X 5400 DDR2, 2048MB PC5400
    # Samsung SpinPoint T166 500GB SATA2
    # LG DVD-burner GSA-H54N IDE Black OEM
    # Creative SB X-Fi Gamer, Bulk
    # Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium

I have left out parts that are uninportant/already covered.

If I tell the price in dollars it would sound alot more expensive than it is because the dollar aren't worth nearly as much NOK as it usually is. Besides, Norway insanely expensive, but if you must know, it costs 1840.52 USD. Well, that actually didn't sound so bad.

What do you think? does it sound like a good buy?

It looks pretty good. I don't know much about foreign currency but you should have a decent rig there. My only concern would be the power supply as I haven't heard of it before, but that doesn't mean it's not good.If you can consider SATA for your DVD burner as it will be a lot nicer than the big and bulky IDE cable that's needed for the IDE drive.

Without having actual prices present and checking every component, it sounds good - the PSU seems to be a little bit on the weak side though, especially if you plan to add additional components.

But it appears overpriced to my EU eyes for sure...

    One word: Norway.

Anyway, I can assure you that I buy from the cheapest place around here. I only wonder about whether the processor, graphics card etc. are good enough for a new computer to be worth it, or if there are any better alternatives.

Your processor and graphics card will definitely be fine. You probably save some later by going for DDR2-800 or even DDR2-1066 memory now rather than later. And again do some research on your power supply and see what you can come up with.

    Hiper Powersupply ATX 580W black, 18dB 120mm fan, 4xSATA, 2XPCI-E, 20/24pin
    Hiper Powersupply 730W black, 80mm fan, ATX/EPS, 4xSATA, 4xPCI-E, 24pin

If I need more than 500W, which one of those above do you think I should choose? is 580W enough?

The 580w should be more than enough. I had a friend who went with Hiper because they look so good, he wasn't disappointed. Not the most powerful 580w modular PSU, but its damn fine looking. Comes in a toolbox!
