AVG 4 life! Seriously, I have had both, and avast! is not as good. It's worth a try though, but I would go with AVG.

I use both, but I prefer AVG - Avast is just a backup.

I dont use anti virus software, I think its akin to hiring some badgers to guard my garden from rabbits, even though the badgers make a mess, when all I really need to do is not let anyone in the gate who has rabbit shaped parcels

I trust you're joking? If not, you really are asking for trouble, not using AV software.

AVG is a good lightweight anti-virus but sometimes I do have a problem with subscription and update service.

I still use Norton because it's also free from my IP

You Know, Hackers have tools to detect the most unprotected systems out there, And even just leaving your computer on with the internet connected even though no browsers are open, you can still get infected.

I have used both and have had no problems with either.

I think though that the best AV software I've ever used is one called 'Bullguard'
Kind of obscure but very fancy and very effective. Had kind of a heartbeat line in the bottom corner that tracked in coming viruses.
