Just got a HDTV, should i use HDMI?

I just got a 1080p hdtv and was wondering.

My cable box uses component and HDMI, they give you the component video cables with the cable box but would it be worth getting an HDMI cable? I dont know much about HDTV so I was wondering if there is much of a difference.

Also if I do get HDMI should I spend a lot of money to get a really high quality HDMI cable or does that really matter as well.

Definately Go HDMI, as far as High End HDMI Cables versus low end, you wont see much of a noticeable difference.

I'd stay with the medium-grade HDMI cables, but Component cables cannot run 1080p very well, HDMI can run much greater than 1080p, so definitely go HDMI.

I don't quite follow you here... You buy a HD ready TV and you connect it with a HDMI cable to a device capable of showing HD broadcasts, HD games or HD movies. The HD TV-channels usually comes with the "packages" you subscribe for these days so the monthly cost for that doesn't differ from standard packages... At least not where I live...

If you plan to watch high definition content or play HD video game on it you will need HDMI. HDMI is nothing special, it’s just that its the only interface that can decrypt HDCP protection. You can watch HD Movies or play HD games without HDMI but it will play at standard definition resolutions.

I frequent another forum with plenty of HD crazy people and they routinely find top of the line HDMI cables for very cheap. Its actually quite amazing, once very expensive cables can be found for $10-20.

That wouldn't be AV forums by any chance would it? Also doesn't the Ps3 need it own propriety cable which costs about $100?

They have a cyber deals thread and they routinely find great deals on HDMI cables.

No idea in regards to the PS2 question.
