The Legacy of Roger: A Sicilian AAR
    This is Sicily.
I, the Norman called Roger, built it with my hands. I, with papal support, annihilated the Muslim emirates of Sicily and established my county. Now, with a firm base, I can achieve my imperial ambitions. Let me analyze the situation of Europe in this mod, the Sicilian Vespers 2.1.03 dev beta.

In Anatolia, the Armenians under the Roupenians look to reestablish the monarchy in the face of Turkish aggression.
In Iberia, the Catalans have declared their independence from the weakening French establishment and are ready to expand.
In the Balkans, the crumbling Byzantines face the small, fiercely independent nations of Serbia and Bulgaria.
The Cumans rule the steppes, nuff said.
    Palermo

Count Roger: My son! I have deployed the Sicilian army near Messina. I want you, Prince Simone, to lead the army against the last Muslim hold out city of Syracuse. Go, my son.

Prince Simone: You can count on me, father, I will not disappoint you.

    Roger: You better not…

    Simone: What?

    Roger: Nothing, nothing…

Chapter 1 of the Reign of Count Ruggero the Conqueror: The Siege of Syracuse

    Palermo…

    Count Roger: Attendant!!!!

    Attendant: Yes, Count Ruggero.

Roger: Do not call me Ruggero! Only my wife can call me Ruggero!

    Attedant: My apologies, milord.

Roger: I want a quick militia army readied for me in Brindisi.

Attendant: It will be done, sire.

Roger: I also want the fleet prepared for my arrival, we shall assault the island of Corfu to alleviate Sicilia’s economic hardships as well as make it a launching point for my future invasions of Albania.

Attendant: Yes milord. We have just received word that our fleets have won their first skirmishes against the Greeks.

Roger: Good. Now I just need my son to come through for me and get the siege of Syracuse over with so we can concentrate on the Orthodox heathens to the East…

    Outside Syracuse…

Noble Andrea Bocelli: My prince! We have news from the forward positions!

Prince Simone: Out with it Bocelli.

Bocelli: The Muslims in Syracuse are sallying out, and I am afraid our fears have been realized. SicilianVespers’ garrison scripts were triggered by our arrival, and now we face an army nearly twice the size of our own!

Simone: Keep calm, Bocelli. Our troops our superior to theirs, and it is always quality over quantity in Medieval 2.

    Bocelli: Yes, I suppose so…

    Simone: Bocelli, one more thing.

    Bocelli: Yes, my prince?

Simone: Get me an aspirin, I think I am getting a migraine.

    Bocelli: Of course, milord.

    The Battle of Syracuse

Simone: Men, with Sicily’s revamped and reskinned unit roster we shall conquer all of the known world! Now is the time to show off the brilliant unit balancing of the great modder DaVinci, to show how he made levy troops unable to stand up against the might of nobles and elites! Now let’s kill these Muslim bastards and send them all to Hell!!!

Siqilli Soldier: Hey, I am Muslim, and I find that offensive.

Simone: Who cares what you think, if you think to much, I’ll kill your wife and three kids, what do you think of that now?! Huh?!

Siqilli Soldier: I have seven kids.

Simone: Shut up and just fight.

Simone: Bocelli, move in the noble cavalry!

    Bocelli: I’ll enjoy this, sire.

Simone: Move in, Siqilli Muslims, show them what you are made of!

Bocelli: Milord, the enemy is collapsing all around, their levies cannot hold for very long.

Simone: I suppose it is time for me to move in and deliver the final blow.

Simone: Archers, switch to flame arrows, spook them! And perhaps burn them while you’re at it!

Bocelli: Sire, I have entered the gates of the city, our victory is complete!

Simone: May all who make Sicily their enemy tremble when they here of my glorious triumph! That was a piece of cake!

Bocelli: What kind of cake, sire?

    Simone: Shut up, Bocelli.

Stay tuned for the invasion of Corfu and the first battle against the Greeks!

Chapter 2 of the Reign of Count Ruggero the Conqueror: The Count in Corfu
    Palermo

Attendant: Milord, the smelly Greeks have landed and army on Corfu, they are attempting to take the island!

Roger: I suppose I must handle this one myself. I shall decisively defeat both the Greeks and the inhabitants of Corfu in one decisive strike!

Attendant: You said decisive twice, sire.

Roger: No, I used different forms of the word you idiot. That doesn’t count as using decisive twice.

    Attendant: Whatever, milord…

    Corfu

Roger: Is that so? Simone defeated the Muslims?

    Noble Puccini: Yes, my count.

Roger: Good. Alack, the Greeks approach!

    The 1st Battle of Corfu
Roger: Alright my men! The enemy may outnumber us, but our Italian Militias are superior to their Greek ones, and that shall grant us victory!

    Men: Huzzah!

Roger: Come on my knights, let us outflank their position and then move in the militias supported by the psiloi!

Roger: Fire at will, psiloi! Engage the Trapezuntine Archers!

Puccini: Milord, those Trapezuntines are tearing our lines apart!

Roger: Stop fussing, Puccini, hold the lines!

    Roger: Infantry, ENGAGE!

Roger: The Klibanophoroi are attacking! Do not worry men, keep your resolve!

Roger: And looks like we won. As if that wasn’t expected.

Stay tuned for a better chapter either tomorrow or the next day!

Chapter 3 of the Reign of Count Ruggero the Conqueror: Corfu Conquered
    Kephalonia…

    Ruggero: Puccini!

    Puccini: Yes, milord.

Ruggero: How long have we been sieging Corfu? I lost count after a turn.

Puccini: It has been 6 turns, sire.

Ruggero: Hmm… Six turns, you say? If my memory serves me correctly, that is exactly how long you have to siege a large town before it sallies! Oh no!

    2nd Battle of Corfu
Ruggero: Alright, men! That last battle against the Byzies was a piece of cake, but this one… is going to be beyond easy! The inhabitants of Corfu will be subject to Norman rule, and Sicily’s coffers will once again be filled to the brim with trade revenue!

Puccini: A speech about trade revenue? Is that the best you can come up with, great one?

Ruggero: I have fought so many battles I am running out of creative lines, its not that easy being a king you know! The enemy peltastai are advancing! They are supplemented with levies brought up with SicilianVespers garrison scripts! Damn you SV!!!!

Ruggero: Foot Nobles, stop standing there and charge!!! Militia, you too!

Ruggero: Siqilli Infantry! Supplement the nobles at the center before they are overwhelmed while I just sit here!

Ruggero: Don’t worry my servants! I, Count Ruggero the Conqueror, shall enter the fray most chivalrously and flank them where they aren’t looking!

Ruggero: Noble Cavalry! Go around the enemy lines and slaughter the archers! With DaVinci’s new unit balancing you should have no problem taking them out!

Puccini: Sire, the last of the enemy is holding the gates!

Ruggero: Blast through them! Leave none of them alive!!!!

Ruggero: Now that is what I call a victory! And a pretty nice one too since it was on H/H difficulty, but that’s what you get when you field levies against nobles.

    Syracuse

Simone: Oh yeah… Ho mangiato come un porco! That was fantastic pasta, my royal cook, you shall get a promotion for that!

Bocelli: My prince, sorry to interrupt your pasta session! Your father has slaughtered the inhabitants of Corfu and it is now ours!

Prince Simone: Great news! Now I can hire mercenaries in Campania to besiege Naples. I shall become the lord of Campania! Mwahahahaha!

Bocelli: What’s with the evil laugh?

Simone: I dunno, it was a spur of the moment kind of thing, you know?

    Bocelli: No…

    Simone:…

Stay tuned for the invasion of Campania!

I am extremely sorry an't finish this. The new dev beta version has been released and I have to test that, plus my school just started (one of the best schools in America). I just won't have any time to finish this...

Thanks for saying I've still got the touch, though. I still think my Ararat In Exile AAR for CTW was the best one though, and my first.
