I almost never post in the Ethos, mudpit or history thread and I have not really contributed much since I have been granted this honour.

I am not totally confident in my posting style and I am unlikely to progress in this vastly unique site due to my shortcomings. So in conclusion I'm asking for permission to jump before I am pushed.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who voted for me and a special thanks to my Patron Ozy and Pra who have been very supportive during my time here.
If you need to be demoted someone will do it for you, other than that I think the civitate class is an old outdated idea and yes it is true you would contribute as much in a lesser rank, as quite possibly would I beyond being a moderator.

Perhaps rather than demoting yourself we could try taking another run at the abolishment of the civitate class? Just a thought.

HAH, that would be like going to Britain and trying to abolish tea.

That would be like going to america, and trying to abolish apple pie, baseball, and remote controls.

    good luck!

If the respective countries stopped caring about the items in question it would be quite easy.

Or in another words pick a better analogy.

His analogy is quite fitting, actually. The CVRIA cares a hell of a lot about the civitate class, like England likes tea.
Under the patronage of Rhah and brother of eventhorizen.

    I disagree, obviously.

You really think every civitate will get right on board with the no doubt complex and intricate plan of overturning the whole political system, and erasing a traditional institution of twc while theyre at it?

We couldnt even agree on a new theme for the site.

let me rephrase then: if dsagreement is a healthy sign of democracy, then where is our new theme? Disagreement may be healthy for democracy but it certainly isnt synonymous with productivity, and your proposal is inherently very...very...controversial and difficult to implement, something that will result in exhaustive debates with a slim possability of anything materializing.

Let me rephrase it then. Just because something might not be implemented doesn't mean the idea is not valid. For instance would the objections of opening up the curia or scrapping it altogether be based on that idea or disagreement of what might replace it?

Secondly the slim possibility of something materialising does not make an idea bad in itself.

whoa, that confused me, the post I typed is gone, but what I was gonna say to you Seneca is something like this:

Seneca you have a point, but so do I. I think, and correct me if I'm wrong, that your point is that you can hold your ideal of how things should be done witout ever going ahead and doing anything to materalizie it in practice. But my point is just that holding an impractical idea is futile in and of itself, if nothing can ever be done about it in practice.

But I got the feeling that you were prepared to take action to materialize your ideals because you hinted at noble savage to help you, basically....help you craft a proposal is what I had assumed but obviously I was wrong.

I wouldn't be opposed to offering someone else draft a bill or lending support to it, I'm just not prepared to do it myself.

So are you saying your only opposition to the idea is its impracticality?

no, not at all, but I'd have to read the proposal first to list all the things I'd undoubtedly oppose about it

What about the idea of either:

    Getting rid of the curia

    Extending the franchise

Forget about the details, give an honest view on whether or not you support ideas like this.

fundamentally opposed barring some unforseen prophetic revelation that it would be for the best. It sounds similar to getting rid of the civitate class to me. Once either the civitates or the curia is gone, TWC ceases to be TWC, it turns into...something else. 'course thats just my opinion, I could be wrong...

I think Seneca means opening up what it means to be a Citizen. This could be him in a latter day -

Did you just call Seneca a chick?

I think Seneca should propose extending the franchise in the Curia*. Whenever this topic comes up, it seems the same six or seven people have the same debate over and over again. A new perspective might break the log jam.

opening up what it means to be a citizen? :headscratch:

    What does that mean?

It means either removing it and letting all members in, or devaluating the civitates, so only the real idiots cant get the rank. Both of which I believe are ridiculous.

Citizenship is already in process of being devalued.
Soon it will have to be abolished. Right now there is no honour whatsoever in being a citizen (at least not for me).
