Alternate Loading Bar DLV v4

Hello's! I'm very new on posting here (kinda old on reading =P) and I got DLV only yesterday and I'm loving it (besides being pwned good nway that's better)

I really liked it so far but the UI art doesn't look so good sometimes *IMO* so I decided to make this little gfx tweak for it. It was just for my personal use but I thought it should be nice to share to anyone who wants to see something different on the loading screens, it's very simple to install: one single file to overwrite (see readme.txt)..



I hope the mod creators don't mind this, I made it just because sometimes I go crazy to create *anything* that goes ahead, and since I've been playing DLV for hours the lil' loading bar annoyed me

Thank you for your beautiful loading bar. It is most graceful. Of course we don't mind - it's always good to see proactive initiative (and lovely art too). I could not have done anything better - have avoided doing the loading bar and glad you've stepped up to be counted. +rep

Ah thanks! Very happy that you liked it, it's a cough up near what you guys do with DLV tough Great work, must have much patience and will (oh well I modded some games -- minor mods, nothing that big -- sometime ago and definetely it's not for the lazy ones I mean, like me heh)

I didn't know more people would like some UI tweak for DLV, now I really going to try one these days =] I saw the "templates" and they're kind of messy but it's clear enough

sounds I use almost 100% of the time Photoshop but really depends because sometimes it's easier to start from a rendered image of a 3D scene, where the lightning is all done and good looking, then I take it to PS for editing.. my PC is really a massive junkyard of almost all kind of CG software -- I used to work on that before, had to stop -- I'm always trying new and alternative stuff, and sometimes some some work passes through a lot of them lol, I'm kinda messy with that, crazy workflow

Feel free to change DLV or make propasals what need to be changed in DLV. Coordinate with Tokus.
Maybe menue changes, or different culture specific battle\campaign outlays\backgrounds (stratpage_01,shared....) as in my BBB mod or others: arab-arabesqe, ....

If you create any new stuff for the game I will try it. I love Tokus work (mostly the factions' icons) but is always good to have options. Maybe you could create a set of loading screens with less colors, something more clean or more darkness to combine with the medieval atmosphere, as an alternative flavour... Only suggestions.

I think there are few brazilians here because the game was not sold by Sega in Brazil. By the way, it's better to see one talented guy like you than one thousand dumb brazilian teenagers (like in Orkut).

I would love to make all this, I just want to get started, doing the 'default' stratpage/shared (let's call it strategy page for our patience sake) first, which I started already! I'm trying to talk to Tokus but since he's off since yesterday morning I'll have to wait

I love Tokus' factions gfx too, my favorites on all M2TW mods (including original) I saw.. and I understand what you said about the loading screens but I just like a lot the RPG/Epic feeling of them, beautiful screens. Maybe far ahead I could try to do some more 'sober' loading screens but I really want to give priority to the user interface (and how much work is to create these loading screens.. Tokus made like 30!!)


I use to avoid showing previews -- I'm a bit paranoid with that, kinda takes away my will to continue heh -- but in this forum I see we can get very good suggestions, so please anything that anyone want to see on the DLV's UI tell here, even if it doesn't fit this one specifically it can be useful for the others -- like repman said, there's like 3 different UIs (I Think) depending on the faction you're playing.. suggestions are always welcome =]

Please keep in mind that's not a screenshot made ingame, I'm making almost everything in 3D, rendering and only then going to editing and then to the game itself.. so probably somethings will change in there (even the resolution isn't the same yet). It's only to give an idea of the style (I'm trying to do a wood/black iron one), so please give your thoughts and suggestions

Thanks! About the other cultures I guess I'll wait to see how this first one will go.. My will is to do firstly the northern because since it has the most generic medieval look IMO (black iron+wood) it can be used as replacement for the others until the others come out.. probably the next one would be the middle_eastern, I'm having ideas already

The UI is looking beautiful Wirapuru,
Heres an idea,
For the Greek UI instead of the usual statue, monument ect why don't you try and take a different approach. Maybe replace the hourglass with a medieval wheel (symbolises rotation) and Greek tools and weapons to fit the medieval 'feel'. You can make the faction seal historical, try to find a suitable Greek origin seal that might have been used in this early medieval period.
I would like to see a more 'darker' representation instead of the usual clean feel of the Greeks, this is medieval total war and it isn't pretty.
