Default Problem with latest Mozilla Firefox update

    Hi there.

A message comes up that Firefox has downloaded a new update that will be installed when I next restart it, but when I do restart, it says that some components were unable to be installed, I should close all running programs and insure I'm allowed to alter settings.

This has never happened before with any other Firefox update and it is my PC, so I'm allowed to change settings, I'm the system Administrator.

    Can anyone help?

    Update is : 2.0.0.6.

It works fine for me. I would just re-download the update for it sounds like you got a corrupted or incomplete download. It happens to me a few times and it sucks if its a half-gig file.

I think he was referring to other downloads. Like a TW mod.

I was referring to other files like mods or demos.

    Error opening file for writing:
    C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe.

What if I were to delete that folder and try to install Firefox all over again?

Hmmm that's odd. I think re-installation would be the best bet so I would go ahead delete the file and than install again like you mentioned. If that doesn't work I don't know.

I had a similar problem and had to reinstall firefox. Fortunatly my profile and bookmarks etc. were kept.

It would seem like it might be an issue either with a corrupted download, or perhaps an error in installation caused by problematic extensions.

Best thing to do probably would be to keep backups of your profile, to update and then disable all extensions, and otherwise clean up firefox before installing a new update in the future.

Well maybe your firewall is causing this? Have you tried to disable your firewall and then install the update?

Yep and it didn't work and as I've mentioned, it hasn't happened with these updates before.

Edit: I tried downloading the new version of Firefox again (2.0.0.6) and this message came up:

    Error opening file for writing:
    C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe.

What if I were to delete that folder and try to install Firefox all over again?
