Moving units with the console...
Can somebody explain me how to warp a character on the map through an console command?
I tried the command but the console didnt find my char.
He is named Admiral Joscelin. Does the command only work with land units?

Re: Moving units with the console...
'move_character "Admiral Joscelin" 5,200' without the quotes and whatever co-ords you want obviously. If the character has a name like 'Mike de Gallo' then add an underscore between the 2nd and 3rd name like so 'Mike de_Gallo'.
'show_cursorstat' for the co-ords of wherever your pointer is too.

The Console cannot find the character, maybe the chars surname is covered by his title. Crap.

I assume this is related to your post in the bug thread, if so maybe you could teleport one of your own ships next to the irish one and attack it?

Just the same kinda move character command like above except with one of your own admirals and their name.

Re: Moving units with the console...
The first char i wanted to move was an admiral...
Not one of the names I enter is accepted by the console.
Are there form rules for typing names?

Re: Moving units with the console...
The above described way to do it is correct. I will give you a few examples how to type it into the console.
move_character Pietro 44,55 (for a guy named Pietro)
move character "Pietro Bollo" 44,55 (for Pietro Bollo)
move_character "Pietro of_Vienna" 44,55 (for Pietro of Vienna)
move character "Captain Pietro" (for a non lead stack)
move_character "Admiral Pietro" 44,55 it does not matter if he is pirate hunter or whatnot, it is always the original name; same goes for generals with titles, 44,55 is an example for the x,y coordinate
The command only works for units present on the map, aka not inside a city. Sometimes two generals share the same name, then the command will take the older one (not sure, maybe it chooses randomly but I guess it is the older one) If you are unsure about a name (for example if it is an I or an L) you can check descr_names in data for all possible name combinations for all factions.

Re: Moving units with the console...
Thank you, now i've managed to move my ship and to attack the root of evil.
But it turned out that the destruction of the ship and its commander didnt prevent the game from crashing. Now I'm completly screwed....

Re: Moving units with the console...
You still have an option left, two actually, watch the AI turn with "follow movement" on and look at which factions turn the game crashes. Now restart the game and use the command surrender_regions for the crash faction. this will kill the faction that causes the crash but at least you can continue your campaign. You can find the exact name of the faction in descr_strat in MTW2\DLV_ext\data\world\maps\campaign\imperial_campaign.
The second option is to check the error logfile in MTW2\logs, perhaps it tells something that could help. If it does not provide info, repman gave a guide how to turn on the enhanced logfile in the bug thread.
Edit: Sorry just saw that you already posted the error log, my bad. And btw "<diet_of_carrots_1> fired" is sooo funny, what the hell is that trigger for anyway. Anyhow, the "dad's killed by mongols" fired tells me that some AI faction member just bit it (by Mongols obviously), perhaps the crash is similar to the old one when the HRE king died? Well you posted all the neccesary info in the bug thread and perhaps Repman will find a solution, I hope so!

"diet of carrots" deals with the ability to have night battles

Re: Moving units with the console...
The CTD seems not to happen because of a visible event on the campaign map.
I destroyed 2 factions, but the crash still occurs.
I love Deus lo vult but I may abadon it because of its massive instability.
Since version 3 I had to end numerous campagins because of bugs.
This is really frustrating....

Wundwulf, had the same problem as you... I just start moving characters in the afflicted regions around, and eventually the turns went through. I don't think it will help, seeing as you've destroyed factions and nothing happened, but the characters I moved were polish and danish priests that were hanging out in Russia. I moved them to god-knows-where (I picked random coordinates, and I couldn't find them again) and it worked

Re: Moving units with the console...
The Problem is that if the destroyed factions characters, (now rebels) were the cause of the CTD, M2 would crash in the rebels turn.
But M2 CTDs during the turn change at the time and place of the now destroyed and nonexistant faction.
So it crashed when i destroyed Ireland (the first assumed CTD cause) then afterwards during the Lega Lombardas turn
(who i destroyed afterwards also) and then during sicilys turn. It seems to me that the crash is NOT faction related...
